Young Farmer Shares Smart Farm Success with Aspiring Returnees in Shinan County

In Sinan County's Aphae-eup, Lee Ji-hoon, a young farmer in his 30s who runs the advanced 'Easy Farm' smart farm, shared his secrets to success with aspiring returnees to farming.

On Tuesday, December 2nd, his farm was selected as a field trip destination for the '2025 Jeollanam-do Return to Farming and Fishing Taste Test 8th Group,' providing an opportunity to directly introduce his smart farm operation know-how.

Three Years Ago, From Pyeongtaek to Sinan... and Smart Farm Success
Lee Ji-hoon returned to Sinan about three years ago and, with the support of the 'Youth Farmer Smart Farm Self-Reliance Foundation Construction Project,' established a state-of-the-art smart greenhouse spanning approximately 600 pyeong (2,000㎡).

In particular, he introduced an aeroponics system that significantly reduces water usage, successfully producing premium European lettuce such as Butterhead and Romaine uniformly throughout the year, earning recognition for his high level of technology.
Practical Know-how Delivered Directly to Aspiring Returnees
Aspiring returnees who participated in the field trip toured the cultivation facilities built by Lee himself and experienced the core of creating the highest quality: the operation of his own germination room.
Rather than simple explanations, the actual systems of the smart farm, technical operation methods, and experiences of trial and error were shared in abundance, receiving great interest from the participants.
A Young Farmer's Growth with the Community
Lee Ji-hoon is recognized as a model young farmer who practices not only agricultural management achievements but also shared growth with the local community.
On September 24th, he donated 150 boxes of European lettuce he directly cultivated to a welfare foundation, delivering them to vulnerable groups.
He also supplies lettuce salads to local agricultural cooperative's local food direct sales stores at reasonable prices, contributing to easing the burden on local residents' grocery bills.
The Face of Future Agriculture Envisioned by Shinan County
Lee Ji-hoon's success aligns with Shinan County's vision of 'a rural community where young people return' and 'sustainable agriculture based on smart technology.'
It is a moment when the challenges and growth of young farmers and the future of agriculture created together with the region are even more anticipated.
