Jinju Railway Cultural Park: A Perfect Spring Outing
Introducing the Railway Cultural Park, an ideal spot for a spring outing.
Originally the site of the old Jinju Station, which was moved to Gajwa-dong, this area transformed into the Jinju Railway Cultural Park in June 2023. It’s a cultural space where the past and present coexist, and it’s truly exciting!
The park is filled with various attractions, from railway heritage to ecological education about the endangered Korean frog, featuring both indoor and outdoor exhibitions, as well as rest areas. Parking is available at nearby public parking lots, with the Ilho Plaza public parking costing 500 won for 30 minutes and 200 won for every 10 minutes.
When you head toward Ilho Plaza, you’ll see the old Jinju Station, known as 'Ilho Plaza Jinju Station.' Inside the building, the railway cultural exhibition hall operates from 9 AM to 6 PM, so keep that in mind!
Upon entering the building, the old waiting room is beautifully recreated. The central hall includes a coloring experience space for children, with exhibition rooms on both sides. The right side is currently preparing for a new exhibition, while the left side is hosting an ongoing exhibition.
Outside Ilho Plaza Jinju Station, the words 'Railway Cultural Park' are displayed against a backdrop of colorful lantern sculptures, making it a perfect photo spot!
The preserved railway within the park exudes a retro vibe, evoking the excitement of travel!
Within the park, you’ll find two Mugunghwa trains. Entering the front Mugunghwa train reveals a cozy resting space adorned with colorful silk lanterns, preserved just as it was. Take a moment to relax!
Entering the Mugunghwa train located in front of the old Jinju Station maintenance depot reveals a completely different interior. It has been remodeled into three photo zones, perfect for capturing wonderful memories!
The journey begins with an animation that narrates the history of Jinju Station, leading to a space filled with a large floral sculpture, creating a fantastic photo opportunity. Various areas serve as photo zones, allowing families, friends, couples, and acquaintances to create beautiful memories together. The final space features an immersive video experience showcasing the beauty of the four seasons.
