1️⃣ A Great Distance for Walking, A Course Full of Fun
Course 5 is a relatively short distance of less than 10km, so you can enjoy a light walking trip with just comfortable clothes and sneakers.
There are not many steep sections, and coastal cliffs, promenades, and village roads alternate, providing a route that is never boring.
2️⃣ Daeso Mountain Beacon Fire Station – Walking Through Memories of the Old Signal Network
Daeso Mountain Beacon Fire Station
Located at the midpoint of the walking journey, Daeso Mountain Beacon Fire Station is a trace of the national communication network used during the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties.
When you come here, you can see the Yeongdeok sea and the surrounding coastline at a glance.
Due to the open view, it is also a place where many travelers take pictures.
In addition, the history of the beacon fire station is briefly explained along with the commentary panel, so you can feel the emotion of a ‘learning trip’ rather than a simple walk.
3️⃣ Jukdo Mountain Observatory – Where You Face the Sea Closest
Jukdo Mountain Observatory
Jukdo Mountain Observatory is more like a ‘hill adjacent to the sea’ than a mountain, as the name suggests.
From the observatory, the coastline of Yeongdeok's east coast unfolds coolly, and if you are lucky, you can see fishing boats floating on the waves or flocks of seagulls.
This observatory, where you can hear the sound of the sea closest, is the best place to take a break.
4️⃣ Chuksan Port – The Daily Life of a Quiet Fishing Village
Chuksan Port
After passing Jukdo Mountain, you will soon arrive at Chuksan Port.
This is a port that is bustling during the snow crab season, but at other times, it is a place where you can fully feel the tranquility of a quiet fishing village.
Walking along the breakwater and port road near the harbor, you can feel as if time is flowing slowly.
Staying here for a while, feeling the sea breeze, and seeing the lives of local fishermen up close is another charm of this course.
Traveler's Guide
Things to prepare before departure: Comfortable sneakers, water, hat, simple snacks
