Taean BBQ Hyuns Grill: A Must-Visit Restaurant Near Mongsanpo Beach

Taean BBQ Hyuns Grill: A Delicious Find in Taean
A Great Place to Visit Alongside Mongsanpo Beach
After a fun day at Mongsanpo Beach, I wanted to have a delicious meal before heading home.
So, I headed to a BBQ restaurant I had searched for the day before.
Perhaps because I had eaten so much seafood at the beach,
I was craving pork and beef.
An introduction that said I could taste authentic Texas BBQ made with a traditional slow smoking method, only a 10-minute drive from Mongsanpo Beach, drew me in.
Address: 263-7 Anmyeondaero, Taean-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea
Operating Hours: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM
Break Time: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Last Order: 9:00 PM
Closed: Every Monday and Tuesday
Parking & Interior:
There was ample parking in front of the building, so I could park comfortably without parking stress.
The interior had a high ceiling, which felt spacious,
and the open kitchen allowed me to see the cooking process, adding to my trust in the food.
Each table had a food warmer, so I felt like I could eat the last bite warm.
And the drum set and classic music and videos in one corner
provided a dynamic yet relaxing atmosphere that soothed my mind tired from everyday life, perfectly matching the tourist and resort vibe.
Menu & Features:
Taean BBQ Hyuns Grill's menu includes:
1. Taean BBQ Platter
2. Namsan-ri BBQ Platter
3. BBQ Brunch
I ordered the Namsan-ri BBQ Platter (2).
The platter included spare ribs, brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken,
morning buns, grilled shrimp, coleslaw, pickles, jalapeños, and sauces.
The Meal:
After ordering, the BBQ was served shortly after,
and the owner calmly explained the composition of the menu, the description, and even the order of eating.
I started with the pulled pork,
which looked so delicious with the cheese slightly melted.
He explained that it could be eaten like a hamburger with the morning buns that came with it.
As explained, I cut the morning bun in half,
put the pulled pork inside, and immediately took a bite.
The morning bun was grilled in butter, making it soft and
full of flavor, making it an excellent hamburger bun.
The pulled pork was also tender and seasoned just right,
so I enjoyed it more than any handmade hamburger I've had recently.
The smoked chicken had a thin but firm outer skin,
the flesh was moist, and the smoky flavor was not overpowering,
allowing the chicken's original flavor to shine through.
The spare ribs came in two flavors: regular and spicy.
The regular flavor was seasoned appropriately, so the original taste of the BBQ
was well felt, and the meat was cleanly separated from the bone.
The spicy flavor was tingling, yet the aftertaste was clean,
so I didn't get tired of eating the two flavors alternately.
The brisket was thinly sliced,
and the smoke ring was subtly visible on the cut surface,
and the fat layer was not excessive, so it wasn't overwhelming.
Even with just a little bit of BBQ sauce, the aroma was sufficient,
and a savory aftertaste was felt for a long time.
The grilled shrimp had a prominent garlic butter flavor,
and the flesh was firm. It accurately refreshed my mouth between bites of meat,
so I didn't get sick of it until the end.
The onions and bell peppers that came as a garnish also had
a subtle smoky flavor, so instead of crispness,
a soft texture stood out, and the sweet taste
made the flavor of the meat even richer.
Conclusion:
Taean BBQ Hyuns Grill was a restaurant that
maintained the basics of authentic BBQ while refining the details with a Korean sensibility.
With just one Namsan-ri BBQ Platter, I was able to taste all the major parts of the BBQ, and I was able to taste the warm food with the food warmer
I could see the owner's consideration in allowing me to enjoy warm food until the end of the meal.
There is also an event where you get a 5% discount when booking through Naver and a basil seed drink when writing a receipt review,
so it's worth checking in advance for a more fulfilling visit.
If you want to eat proper BBQ near Taean City or Mongsanpo Beach,
I highly recommend Taean BBQ Hyuns Grill.
As soon as the menu I ordered at the Taean restaurant in Chungcheongnam-do arrived, I was happy to be able to eat the soup made with fresh ingredients right away.
