Spring Blossoms at Deokcheon Seowon

On a Sunday afternoon with summer-like weather, I visited Deokcheon Seowon, a famous cherry blossom spot in Geochang.
The path to Deokcheon Seowon seemed to be under construction, with safety fences installed along some sections of the riverside road, so I approached carefully.
Since I visited after work, the timing was a bit late to catch the sunset, but it was enough to enjoy the abundance of cherry blossoms.
I parked at the entrance of Deokcheon Seowon and walked up towards the seowon. The traditional hanok scenery and spring flowers always leave me in awe.
2026 has been declared the year to visit Geochang. There was an event banner, so I took a photo. The "Cherry Blossom Travel Snap Challenge" will run from April 4 to April 26, 2026, for 23 days. Participants can upload photos featuring people and cherry blossoms to their personal social media and submit them on the Geochang County website to enter the event. Everyone who participates will receive a gift, so don’t forget to join!
There are many cherry blossom spots in Geochang, including Yongwonjeong, Changpo Won, Simsujeong, Gurye Village Road, Sports Park, Bukseong-myeon, Namsang Imbul, Namsang, and Gajok. This week, the blossoms are expected to be in full bloom, so make sure to enjoy the cherry blossom road in Geochang!
The pond view in front of the seowon is also beautiful, though I was a bit disappointed that the magnolias were shedding their blooms.
The majestic Dae Bul Jeong, guarding the seowon, is always impressive. Hosanjeong, located at the entrance of Deokcheon Seowon, also stands tall and grand in photographs. The harmony between the old structures and the surrounding trees and flowers was delightful.
Walking further up towards the reservoir, I encountered large magnolia trees. They are currently shedding flowers, leaving me a bit disappointed for photos.
The purple magnolias have begun to bloom, so I captured a shot. The reflection at Ungok Reservoir is a popular spot among photographers. I took a shot too, but I felt a bit unsatisfied.
After going around the reservoir, there’s a bridge that crosses the stream. Taking a photo on this bridge can yield a stunning cherry blossom shot. Unfortunately, since I was traveling alone, I couldn’t take a photo of myself and only captured the scenery.
Originally, there were two bridges, but one is currently under construction, so soon there will be three bridges enhancing the landscape.
Spending a Sunday evening capturing the beautiful cherry blossoms at Deokcheon Seowon was a time for my own healing. With the rain today, tomorrow, the reservoir will likely be showered with flower petals, creating a picturesque scene.
If you haven't seen the cherry blossoms at Deokcheon Seowon yet, I highly recommend visiting!
