Significant Progress in the Shinan Seaweed Industry

Hello.
This is Shinan County.
We are pleased to announce that our county has been selected for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' '2025 Jeonnam Fishery Product Distribution Center (FPC) Establishment Support Project.'
This selection marks a significant achievement for us!
With this project, we will establish an FPC with a total budget of 8 billion KRW, along with an additional 15 billion KRW for a dried seaweed processing plant.
In total, we will be building a large-scale infrastructure for the seaweed industry worth 23 billion KRW.
The new FPC will be located in the Ahwae-eup area and will feature:
✔️ Dried seaweed processing plant
✔️ Frozen storage facilities
✔️ Distribution hub for local products
This will create a systematic seafood distribution platform.
We aim to establish a virtuous cycle system that connects production, processing, storage, distribution, and export, enhancing the competitiveness of the Shinan seaweed industry.
GAMRO Seafood Co., Ltd. will participate as a cooperator in this project.
Over the past two years, GAMRO Seafood has recorded sales of 40.9 billion KRW, with approximately 40.1 billion KRW coming from exports to markets including the United States.
They are a globally competitive small and medium-sized enterprise with international food safety certifications such as USDA-NOP and SQF.
Shinan County plans to address the decline in seaweed prices and waste issues at the production site, establishing a stable supply system to secure fishermen's incomes.
Additionally, we will expand our high-value processing base to strengthen export competitiveness and positively impact local job creation and economic revitalization.
Moving forward, Shinan County will continue to develop this facility into a key distribution hub for the seaweed industry in the Jeonnam region.
