Shinan County's Four Townships Volunteer Groups'
‘Sharing Love for Chuseok’ Story
In celebration of Chuseok, one of the biggest national holidays, acts of warm sharing towards neighbors continued throughout Shinan County.
The volunteer groups from Jido-eup, Shini-myeon, Haiui-myeon, and Heuksan-myeon
They created a warm holiday atmosphere by conveying their heartfelt feelings to neighbors in vulnerable situations.
Jido-eup
‘Sharing Holiday Food with Sincerity’ Volunteer Work
The Women's Volunteer Group of Jido-eup, Shinan County (President Hong Gyeong-ja)
carried out ‘Sharing Holiday Food Volunteer Work’ for senior citizens living alone and neighbors in vulnerable situations ahead of Chuseok.
The members personally prepared various foods such as croaker pancakes, skewered meat, and pan-fried patties
and delivered them to a total of 40 households.
Beyond simply delivering food, they visited homes directly
to check on their well-being and offer warm greetings.
Shini-myeon
‘Songpyeon of Love’ Made Together
The Volunteer Group of Shini-myeon, Shinan County (President Park Jeong-ae)
held a ‘Sharing Songpyeon of Love for Chuseok Event’
and about 20 residents and volunteers made songpyeon together and delivered them to 50 households of senior citizens living alone and vulnerable groups.
In particular, they added warmth to the holiday by delivering handwritten letters and daily necessities along with the songpyeon.
Haiui-myeon
Delivering Hearts with Rice Cake(Deok), Pancake(Jeon), Korean traditional sweets and cookies(Hangwa)
The Volunteer Group of Haiui-myeon, Shinan County (President Choi Hae-yeong)
carried out ‘Sharing Rice Cake(Deok), Pancake(Jeon), Korean traditional sweets and cookies(Hangwa)’ activities for the Chuseok holiday.
The members visited senior citizens and low-income families with personally made holiday food,
delivered the food, offered words of warm comfort,
and shared affection between neighbors.
Heuksan-myeon
‘Songpyeon of Love’ Delivered to 100 Households
The Volunteer Group of Heuksan-myeon, Shinan County (President Ahn Hyun-ju)
held a ‘Sharing Songpyeon of Love Event’ for 100 households of underprivileged people for Chuseok.
About 20 members participated, personally made songpyeon,
visited homes to deliver them,
and conveyed the warmth of the holiday while checking on their well-being with warm greetings.
A Heart to Share Together, Shinan Shining Together
This sharing by the volunteer groups of Jido-eup, Shini-myeon, Haiui-myeon, and Heuksan-myeon
made us realize once again that ‘one small act of sincerity becomes great warmth.’
Thanks to the warm sharing of the volunteer groups in each township,
all Shinan County residents were able to spend a bountiful and friendly holiday.
In the future,
we will continue to work together with the administration and the local community,
to create a warm Shinan where neighbors care for neighbors!
