Random Musings: Keyboard, Early Mornings, Skies, Jeju Trip, and Costco

1. Keyboard Love
Buying this keyboard was definitely a good choice, so far. I just want to write everything because I love the click-clack sound. I wish I could replace my home keyboard with this one too. That clickety-clack sound is so satisfying! Haha. I liked my home keyboard when I first bought it, but it doesn't compare to this. That one just sounds like a regular keyboard. The tactile feedback is so much better with this one. I might keep checking for refurbished models and replace it. I also like that it's wireless. Not that I'm doing anything particularly wireless with it, but once you get used to wireless earphones and a wireless mouse, it's hard to go back to cords. I'm so fickle.
2. Becoming a Morning Person
It might be too early to say, but I've been waking up earlier lately. I don't think it's because my condition has improved, though. Even if I wake up with a lot of time to spare before I need to get up, I try to go back to sleep, but I just can't, so I end up getting up. That's how I started morning workouts when I lived in Yongsan. I thought it wouldn't work here because I couldn't bring myself to get up, but I guess I just needed more time.
Lately, even when I woke up early, I would spend time on my phone until it was time to get up and make breakfast. Today, I finally put my phone down and read a book, then made a leisurely breakfast with fruit, dessert, and coffee, and even did some laundry before heading to work. If I can just wake up, the morning is so peaceful. Hardly anyone contacts me, it's quiet, and my mind is relatively clear. Because I woke up early, I have a strong desire to do something productive, so I read and exercise. The reason I signed up for my current gym was because they had a 7 AM class, but I forgot about it since I've only been going on my days off. I realized I've only been going once a week this month (though I did do two-hour sessions), so I wondered what to do but I had a thought to go to the 7am class. It was funny that I'd forgotten all about it. Anyway, I remembered, so that's good. If I wake up early, I shouldn't hesitate and go to the 7 AM workout. Or go for that run I've been wanting to do. As long as I wake up, I can do anything. I woke up at 5:30 today. If I don't take a nap, I'll probably be sleepy early tonight, and I'll wake up early tomorrow too. I'm looking forward to it.
3. The Sky
On workdays, I go to the Han River after lunch. To digest my food and see the river. Sometimes I walk, sometimes I take a Ttareungi (Seoul Bike).
Here's the Han River today.
And this is the Han River on a sunny day not too long ago.
Looking at that photo makes me think even more about the weather lately. How can there be so few sunny days? The rainy season wasn't even this bad. It's my favorite season, autumn, but it's been raining for days and days, and even when it's not raining, it's cloudy. I don't even remember the last time I saw the sun. They say it's because the temperature of the sea around Korea is rising. I can feel that the Earth is changing unpredictably every season, every year. When it became difficult to see the blue sky because of the severe fine dust, I realized that I can't always see the blue sky, so I should appreciate it when I can. I've decided to recommit myself to that. I have to go out and look at the clear blue sky whenever I have a break. I wish I could see the sunset every day, but I'm usually working at that time, so I can't help it. I'll have to make sure to see it on my days off.
4. Jeju Island Trip
I'm going to Jeju Island this Sunday for a two-night, three-day trip. It started with wanting to get some fresh air, then it turned into a Mokpo restaurant tour, and somehow it was decided to go to Jeju Island. It was supposed to be a trip with just S, but while drinking, S.M. from our branch and K.H. from the Gocheok branch joined us. Four people born in the year of the Monkey. Haha. I'm going to see the oreums (volcanic cones) and the sea, but S wants to go to Jeju Island restaurants, S.M. needs a break, and K.H. wants to see the oreums and the sea, go to restaurants, and relax. Haha. I wonder how this trip will turn out. I kind of forgot about it after booking the plane and the accommodation (partly because it's so different from the trip I imagined, so I lost some excitement), but as the date gets closer, I'm getting excited and a little worried. Everything else will work out somehow, so I just hope the weather is good. It can be cloudy, but please don't rain. Please let there be a blue and beautiful sky for at least one day. I almost got blown away when I went to Udo with my parents last time... Please, please!
5. Costco
Costco, out of the blue? Haha
Since moving, I think Costco is the place I go to most often. I don't buy anything spectacular, I just go as a stroll. I buy a bottle of wine, a bottle of olive oil... I can't buy much because it's heavy, so when I go alone, I usually only buy one thing. When I go with Gom (Bear), I buy a little more. But I definitely spend more money that way. Even if I only buy one thing, it's a large amount. I eat it eventually, but... I buy things I don't really need... Sigh. But I don't think I can quit it for a while. It's fun. Hehe.
Some of the things I've bought that I think were good purchases are:
EZ Peel Red Shrimp
Snack Cheese (Mini Brie, Mini Gouda & Havarti, Mini Parmigiano)
Costco Signature Vegetable Mix
That's about it.
I make pasta with the shrimp, or just stir-fry the shrimp as a snack with alcohol, or stir-fry it with vegetables and eat it as a side dish. I still have some left.
The snack cheeses are individually packaged, so you only have to eat one at a time, which is nice, and the expiration dates aren't short, so I'm very satisfied. It's perfect with a glass of wine. It's also good to eat a piece with fruit, and I'm thinking of trying other cheeses.
I like all the vegetables in the Signature Vegetable Mix. It seems like there are a lot of carrots, though. I also wanted to eat cabbage and cauliflower, so I bought them separately and mixed them in. I stir-fry the vegetables by themselves and eat them, or I grill the vegetables and pour store-bought curry over them. I also eat them with chicken breast. It's nice that I don't have to buy all kinds of raw vegetables. It's very convenient. I also bought sirloin steak once and ate it well, and I bought lamb ribs on sale and ate them well. I plan to buy sirloin steak again when I'm craving meat. I also put mini croissants in the freezer and heat them up in the toaster oven when I want dessert. Oh, and I've been enjoying the Momos and Terarosa coffee beans.
Because I keep looking at Costco products, the algorithm keeps showing me "Costco Must-Buy" recommendations, but I don't think I need to freeze refrigerated meat to eat it, and I don't want to create more work for myself, so my purchases are limited, but I still enjoy browsing.
