About Raje Tongmun Gate
Location: San 85, Socheon-ri, Seolcheon-myeon, Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do
Approximately 20 minutes by car from Muju-eup or Gucheon-dong
Raje Tongmun Gate is an artificial stone cave located between Deogyusan Mountain and Seokmosan Mountain. It is the first of Muju's 33 scenic wonders and a representative tourist attraction of Muju.
It is presumed to have been the boundary between Silla and Baekje during the Three Kingdoms period.
An interesting history where languages and customs differed east and west of the cave.
A heartbreaking trace of gold mine development during the Japanese colonial period.
Designated and protected as a geological attraction of the National Geopark by the Ministry of Environment since 2019.
