Jinju Bronze Age Museum: An Affordable Trip
Are you looking for a great Jinju travel destination for the weekend with your family? The Bronze Age Museum, located in Daepyeong-ri, Jinju-si, Gyeongnam, was built on the site of the largest Bronze Age Daepyeong Village. It's a living history playground where children can walk through and experience a prehistoric village.
With its affordable admission fee, rich experience programs, and beautiful Namgang River view, it's the perfect place for the whole family.
You can visit the Bronze Age Museum at a reasonable price: Adults: ₩1,000, Teenagers: ₩700, Children: ₩500. Jinju citizens get an additional 50% discount on the above rates.
The Bronze Age Museum is divided into an indoor and outdoor exhibition area. The indoor exhibition hall consists of the 1st and 2nd floors. After receiving your jade necklace upon entry, it is recommended to watch the museum introduction video in the video room first. After watching the video, the exhibition becomes much more interesting.
On the stairs leading to the 2nd floor, you can see the Daepyeong Bridge and the Namgang River view. It's a great place to sit on the sofa and relax.
The exhibition space is modern and neatly organized, and is divided into permanent exhibition hall, special exhibition hall, experience hall, and rest area. In particular, the permanent exhibition hall has 9 themed spaces centered on media experiences, including Daepyeong-ri ruins and Jinyangho submerged artifacts, relics from the Paleolithic to Bronze Age, characteristics of agricultural society, pottery and residential exhibitions, weaving, stone tools, jade workshops, moats and ritual remains, burial aspects, realistic video hall, AR drone observation room, and VR jade workshop. All experiences are only available to jade necklace wearers, so be sure to bring yours.
In addition, the Jade Room resting area has a small library and play area, making it a great place to relax with children.
The outdoor exhibition area is a space that recreates a prehistoric village. Three types of pit houses have been restored: Hobot Workshop (Milgakbang pit house), Jinju's House (Sejangbang pit house), and Daepyeong's House (Jangbang pit house). Inside each pit house, models of pottery and living tools are displayed, allowing you to imagine the lives of people at that time.
In addition, various experiential exhibits are provided inside the pit houses. Children can enjoy programs that are linked to the screen by pressing buttons, such as 'Experience lighting a fire in an extinguished fireplace' and 'Experience repairing broken farming tools', making it especially popular with families.
In particular, a hologram musical is shown in Daepyeong's House, allowing children to experience prehistoric stories in a more immersive way. Beyond simply viewing the exhibition, you can have a living experience that combines music and video, making it both educational and fun.
In addition to the pit houses, you can also see outdoor fireplaces and cooking scene sculptures, exhibitions that recreate virtual characters in the video as actual sculptures, and various forms of dolmen tombs.
There are many great photo spots, making it perfect for taking family photos, and there is also a Bronze Age Cafe next door where you can relax and enjoy the Namgang River view.
The Bronze Age Museum is not just a historical space, but a living learning center for children, a cultural space where adults can reflect on ancient Korean society, and a healing destination where you can enjoy the scenery of the Namgang River. Visit the Jinju Bronze Age Museum, where you can enjoy special history, culture, and relaxation with your family during the upcoming Chuseok holiday.
