Gyeongnam's Autumn Foliage Hotspot
Wolahsan Forest of Jinju
Autumn has arrived at Wolahsan Forest of Jinju. While Wolahsan is beautiful in all seasons, it transforms into an entirely different world in the fall.
Thanks to the continuous efforts of many, the maple trees here are tinged with red, creating a vibrant autumn landscape. The foliage gradually begins in late October, reaching its peak in November, when the entire forest is adorned with spectacular colors.
Wolahsan Forest of Jinju features a slightly uphill path. I usually park in Parking Lot 1 and enjoy walking from the Writer's Garden up to the Natural Recreation Forest.
The cool autumn breeze makes it the perfect season for a stroll. Unlike the hot summer, you can walk for a long time without feeling burdened, and with each step, you can feel the scent of autumn.
The Writer's Garden, located across from the parking lot, is an artistic garden designed by garden writers from Jinju, based on the theme of 'Moonlit Wonderland (月亮仙境).'
The two ponds are particularly impressive. During the day, the red foliage is reflected on the clear water surface, and at night, the moonlight permeates the ponds, creating a magical atmosphere. The emotions felt during the day and night are completely different, making it worth visiting twice.
Following the bridge connected to the Writer's Garden, you'll find the newly unveiled Sandol Madang (Stone Garden) and the Moon Rabbit Photo Zone.
In front of the Forest Children's Library, the 'Hamo riding the moon' character welcomes visitors. Various Hamo sculptures are hidden throughout Wolahsan Forest of Jinju, making it fun to wander around with children while playing 'Find Hamo.'
In front of the library, rows of red metasequoia trees and beautifully blooming chrysanthemum pots are displayed. As you get closer, the subtle scent of chrysanthemums spreads, making you feel at ease.
Behind the library, traces of hydrangeas, which were popular in the summer, remain, allowing you to feel the passage of the seasons. There are also cute wooden characters and a children's playground, making it a perfect place to relax in nature with children.
The most beautiful place for autumn foliage is Hutu Forest. The newly installed cute signs and animal characters throughout Wolahsan Forest of Jinju, and the scenery created by the acorns fallen underfoot are truly lovely. Even if the foliage hasn't fully turned yet, you'll be able to see a spectacular view of red hues around mid-November.
Another highlight, Moonlight Garden, is a terraced mountain stone garden created using stones from Wolahsan. It is built along the valley, making it pleasant to walk up slowly while enjoying the beautiful scenery. This space, made of mountain stones, is more than just a garden; it is a symbol of the community spirit of Jinju citizens and a result of natural regeneration, making it even more meaningful.
At the very top of Wolahsan Forest of Jinju is the Natural Recreation Forest. Glamping areas and camping decks are well- 조성되어 있고, 풍경이 정말 근사합니다.
The Barefoot Forest Path, created in 2024, is an experiential trail symbolizing Jinju's garden culture and forest healing, and it is currently a popular course used by many citizens.
For a unique autumn experience, I also recommend forest sports. Enjoy a thrilling experience overlooking the red-tinged Wolahsan Forest of Jinju from a high vantage point! The price is reasonable, making it popular with families and couples.
