Exploring the Yeosan Permanent Market

After enjoying a bowl of noodles for lunch, I set out for a delightful outing to the Yeosan Permanent Market in Yesan-eup, Chungcheongnam-do.
As autumn fades and winter approaches, the market is bustling with visitors, even on weekdays. The wide parking lot makes it easy for locals to access the market, which transforms into a lively marketplace on specific market days.
This traditional market has gained popularity across the country, attracting many visitors during weekends and holidays. Upon entering, a large map provides helpful information about the various shops.
The market features a spacious area with grills where visitors can purchase meat from local butchers and enjoy barbecuing. It’s a favorite spot for many, especially young couples and families with children.
As I wandered through the market, I came across a shop specializing in traditional Korean liquor made from locally sourced apples, a specialty of Yesan. Visitors can sample different varieties and find their preferred taste.
Continuing my exploration, I discovered a charming café with a retro vibe, reminiscent of old music cafes, where patrons can enjoy records while sipping coffee.
For lunch, I opted for a simple yet satisfying dish of bibim-guksu (spicy mixed noodles) for 8,000 won, which was deliciously prepared with a spicy sauce and perfectly cooked noodles.
After filling my stomach with noodles, I continued to explore the market's alleys, observing various shops run by dedicated young entrepreneurs. Their hard work and enthusiasm are truly inspiring.
As my visit to the Yeosan Permanent Market came to an end, I was reminded of the rich culture and community spirit that this market embodies. It was a wonderful outing, and I look forward to my next visit.
