Must-Visit Places in Goesan County
Welcome, neighbors!
Sometimes, we crave a peaceful stroll through serene landscapes, escaping our busy lives.
Today, I’d like to introduce a wonderful spot in Goesan that’s perfect for such moments: Gyedam Seowon.
As you wind your way into the village, a large granite monument and a red brick entrance greet you warmly.
Upon entering, you’ll find black stone tablets that record the noble intentions and history of ancient scholars.
Reading these neatly arranged tablets invites you into a quiet and reverent atmosphere right from the entrance.
In 1992, the main hall, Seodeoksa, the library (Hakgudang), residential quarters, office, and gates were constructed.
One of the most fascinating aspects of this place is that it houses a library and a study room, showcasing its role as an educational institution that continues to this day.
After passing the library, you will encounter a beautifully painted gate with red and blue Taeguk symbols, followed by a straight stone staircase.
As you ascend the steps, take a moment to stop and look back.
Through the elegantly extending branches of the green pine trees, you can see the layered mountain ranges unfolding like an oriental painting.
With the refreshing breeze, it's a beautiful photo spot, truly worthy of being included in your Goesan itinerary.
Once you pass through the door, the main shrine building appears majestically.
The green and red patterns adorning the eaves blend harmoniously with the lush surrounding forest.
Next to the shrine, a small door and stairs lead to a quiet area that adds to the serene atmosphere.
After exploring the entire seowon, standing at a high point gives you a panoramic view of the wide fields and the rooftops of the clustered village, providing a comforting sense of peace.
If you’re looking for a place to clear your mind and reflect quietly, consider adding Gyedam Seowon to your Goesan travel plans.
I highly recommend it as a perfect spot for tranquil relaxation!
What do you think about this introduction to Gyedam Seowon?
It’s truly a beautiful destination for a quiet walk amidst serene landscapes, so be sure to visit.
I’ll return soon with more great places to explore in Goesan. Thank you!
