I visited the Seonghwanggil Course 65, which fully embraces the blue sea and lush pine forests of Taean.

This trail marks the beginning of the Taean section (Courses 65-75) of the 1,800 km journey stretching from Haenam in Jeollanam-do to Ganghwa in Gyeonggi-do.

Walking along this path offers continuous healing throughout the journey.

The starting point of the exploration is the Taean Tourist Information Center.

The journey began at the Taean Tourist Information Center, located just after crossing the Seosan B District embankment.

The 65 Course spans approximately 15.3 km, showcasing a variety of landscapes as village paths intersect with tranquil forest trails.

The first path I encountered from the Taean Tourist Information Center was a bike path.

The road leading to the village is mostly composed of farmland, with cemented paths that feel refreshing and breezy throughout the walk.

As I traversed from village to village, I crossed a main road to enter the next village.

To walk effectively, I focused on my posture:

  • Footwork: Step from heel to sole to toes.
  • Core: Engage the abdomen as if sticking the belly button to the back.
  • Gaze: Keep the body straight while looking 15 meters ahead.
  • Pelvis: Utilize the pelvis to reduce pressure on the knees while walking.
  • Stride: Walk with a wider stride than usual.

Typically, one can walk 3 km on hilly terrain or 4 km on flat ground in an hour, but with the correct posture and wider stride, I managed to walk 5 km in an hour.

As I walked along the path, I noticed a deep and wide irrigation canal, which was a distinctive feature of Taean.

Along the way, I passed the Taean World Tulip Flower Expo, which runs until early May, making the trip even more enriching.

After about an hour of walking, I entered a forest path.

The shade provided by the pine trees and the view of the ocean alongside enhanced the joy of walking.

I found a bench to rest in the shade, where the sea breeze felt cool against my back.

Enjoying the beautiful weather and the refreshing wind, I was saddened to see many pines suffering from pests.

After walking for two hours, I took a break for lunch.

To relieve foot fatigue, I found it helpful to take off my shoes during breaks.

The course led me through the Solmorat-gil section of the Taean Beach Trail, where dense pine forests meet sandy beaches.

Eventually, I arrived at the famous Mongsanpo Beach, concluding my journey on Seonghwanggil Course 65.

The serene sandy shores and lush pine forests provided a healing experience throughout the walk.

Although I completed the course in 3 hours and 30 minutes, I regretted not stopping at the Korea Dulle-gil rest area located at the endpoint.

To return, I recommend parking at Mongsanpo and taking bus number 741 from Taean Public Bus Terminal, which operates once daily. Alternatively, you can park at the Taean Tourist Information Center and take a taxi back after completing the course.

The Taean Tourist Information Center is conveniently located right after crossing the Seosan B District embankment, making it the starting point for the Seonghwanggil Course 65.
