Exploring the Insect Experience Center in Cheongbuk with Kids

I've been looking for great places in Cheongbuk to visit with my children and tend to go often.
I've visited the Goesan Aquarium several times and also checked out the Insect Experience Center next door. This time, after remodeling and a slight name change, I decided to revisit.
The center is located at 37 Sogari-gil, Goesan-eup, Goesan-gun, Cheongbuk, in the Cheongbuk Fisheries Park.
Address: 37 Sogari-gil, Goesan-eup, Goesan-gun, Cheongbuk, Fisheries Industry Research Building
Operating Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9 AM – 6 PM
We parked in the lot next to the Goesan Aquarium. As soon as we arrived, a giant beetle caught our eye.
The kids were thrilled and ran towards it. Inside, there was a beetle library filled with storybooks that children love.
It's wonderful to see such creative structures and a small library; it’s a great emotional space for kids.
After enjoying a fun story read by Dad, the kids headed to the Emotional Insect Experience Center.
This visit felt different from the last time. The space was cleaner and there were more media displays.
Upon entry, helpers greeted us and guided us to change into indoor shoes.
The first floor features an ecological playground, a taxidermy room, a rest area, and a media exhibition room, while the second floor has another taxidermy room, a media exhibition room, and a photo zone. The rooftop garden is on the third floor.
There’s an elevator for those who may have difficulty walking.
The media exhibition room fascinated the kids, simulating an underwater experience. They joyfully ran around, touching everything.
These media-enhanced spaces are becoming more common, and I personally find them great for creating immersive experiences for children.
Additionally, there was a fun rock climbing ball pit where the atmosphere shifted to that of a kids' café.
The kids loved this area the most, and many other children were also joyfully playing while their parents watched proudly.
Next to it, there were two arcade machines that excited some kids.
My children particularly enjoyed the 'Firefly' story depicted on the playroom wall.
After the interior was revamped in February 2026, the space sparkled, and the attention to detail in the decor was delightful.
If you have friends who love insects or children who are starting to take an interest, I highly recommend visiting.
You can see and even touch live beetles, stag beetles, and grubs, making it a very fun place.
It also provides a detailed look at how ants build their homes underground, offering a meaningful experience for the kids.
As a resident of Cheongbuk, I'm proud to see so many great museums emerging in Goesan, and I hope many people get to enjoy them.
