Exploring the Ecological Science Museum in Geochang

Hello!!
Our children have a keen interest in insects, so we visited the Geochang Ecological Science Museum located within the Geochang Apple Theme Park.
The museum offers exhibitions focused on insects and their natural enemies, making it a great place to experience and learn with kids.
The address is 3372-60 Geohamdaero, Geochang-eup, Geochang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do.
The operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed every Wednesday.
Admission is free!
The museum is located within the Geochang Apple Theme Park, featuring exhibitions on insect natural enemies, educational experiences, and a space for ecological learning.
Before entering, we found the Bugs Hotel to be incredibly cute! Unfortunately, there were no insects available to interact with at the time. We hope to see some the next time we visit.
They also offer guided tours, which I regret missing during this visit. However, I believe it would be a more enriching experience for families to participate in the explanations.
There’s also a cute photo zone! They have caterpillar hats and butterfly wings, which were adorable when worn.
Upon entering, we signed the guestbook and explored the museum.
There’s an interactive experience where you can touch male bees, which don’t sting. My child was initially scared but ended up observing them for a long time.
There's also a Doctor Fish experience zone where kids compete to see who can attract the most fish.
You can observe even the tiniest insects through microscopes!
There’s a space where you can touch adult and larval stag beetles. While I was hesitant, the kids eagerly explored and examined them.
Stag beetles and rhinoceros beetles are said to be inactive during the day, and they remained calm while the children observed.
Be cautious with the rhinoceros beetle's pincers, as they can hurt if pinched.
The museum also features exhibits on entomology and pointillism, allowing kids to become little explorers.
Clothes for role-playing are available for free rental.
The ecological museum hosts events where kids can fill out worksheets while exploring, which keeps them engaged and helps them learn.
The first floor exhibition focuses on the basics of natural enemies, including how to create insect specimen collections. The second floor features detailed displays of natural enemy insects found in Korea.
The kids particularly enjoyed a puzzle area where they learned about natural enemies while playing.
There’s also a fun game on a screen where they throw balls to catch pests in a strawberry field. They had a great time trying to protect the strawberries!
We also saw various insect posters from around the world and had the chance to observe mealworms, although we couldn't touch them.
After exiting the ecological museum, there’s a large area where kids can run around pretending to be butterflies, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
During our visit, there was also a free plant giveaway event with adorable plants waiting for visitors.
If you enjoy gardening, I recommend visiting this week.
It's a great place to visit with kids to learn about nature and insects, and the free admission makes it easy to drop by!
