Eco Bridge pedestrian bridge connecting Dongjincheon and Seonghwangcheon
In Goesan, Dongjincheon and Seonghwangcheon flow through the city, with attractions like the Goesan Expo Plaza, traditional market, and the county office situated between the two waterways. This area serves as a starting point for visitors heading to scenic spots like Sanmak Old Road, Goe-gang's Nine Scenic Views, Yeonpung, and Cheongcheon. The Goesan Expo Plaza hosts the county's major festivals, and the newly opened Eco Bridge enhances the experience along these rivers.
The pedestrian bridge is located just one block off Goesan Central Road and offers a clear view from Seonghwang Bridge. During the winter, both rivers freeze over, creating a stunning ice lake effect.
Dongjincheon and Seonghwangcheon have been beloved walking paths for residents for years. Festivals such as the Goesan Pepper Festival and the Goesan Kimjang Festival often leave a lasting impression on visitors. The Eco Bridge is part of a scenic walking route that includes Solhyanggi Road, Sky Wind Road, and Yeoul Sound Road. With the recent opening of the Natural Echo Music Fountain in spring, the Eco Bridge offers a year-round retreat.
The Eco Bridge transforms between day and night. During the day, it serves as a walking path connecting the rivers and roads, while at night, the landscape is illuminated by beautiful night lights, creating a vibrant atmosphere. From spring to autumn, visitors can enjoy the music fountain, and in winter, they can marvel at the dazzling light displays.
At the center of the rivers, an octagonal pavilion serves as a focal point, connecting three directions and providing a pleasant walking route. The long waves of Dongjincheon and Seonghwangcheon can be viewed at the confluence of the two rivers, presenting a beautiful landscape.
From the Eco Bridge, walking paths extend in three directions. Continuing toward the direction of the music fountain leads to the Goesan Traditional Market, crossing the Second Goesan Bridge to reach Goesan Bridge. A small garden-like island can also be seen in the middle of the water.
The Eco Bridge begins at three points, with the longest and most beautiful section featuring ramps and stairs for accessibility. Pine and broadleaf trees will bloom in spring, enhancing the surrounding scenery.
From the entrance below the bridge, the Eco Bridge can be seen extending gracefully over the water. The three branches of the bridge stretch over the frozen lake, with Dongjincheon originating in Sosu-myeon and flowing south to Dongburi in Goesan, while Seonghwangcheon flows east from Sari-myeon before merging into the Goegang River. These rivers are vital water sources for the Goesan plain.
The riverside walking path extends beneath the road, leading to the Goesan Traditional Market and various buildings. This peaceful riverside area offers a serene escape from the bustling city, perfect for reflection and leisurely walks.
As you walk along the riverside path, you can see the cityscape up close and the ridges in the distance. The path continues with several entry and exit points, allowing visitors to choose whether to proceed or pause. Before long, you arrive at the Natural Echo Music Fountain, where you can relax at the deck area and explore the Goesan Clean Pepper Museum and the Goesan Cauldron.
This winter, the Eco Bridge pedestrian bridge opened in Dongburi, where Dongjincheon and Seonghwangcheon meet. The night landscape lighting brightens the long winter nights, making it an excellent starting point for exploring nearby attractions and enjoying light walking routes.
