Seokjangri Museum is an important site that proves humans have lived here since the Paleolithic era.

A map is available to help you easily identify the facilities.

The directions to the Paleolithic Experience Hall, Permanent Exhibition Hall, and the Paleolithic Living Exhibition are marked.

Photos from the excavation provide a sense of the long history.

▲ Paleolithic Site

Let me share a pamphlet about the excavation and the beginning of Korean Paleolithic research.

Seokjangri Museum was established to commemorate South Korea's first Paleolithic site.

In November 1964, the excavation of this site proved for the first time that the Paleolithic era existed on the Korean Peninsula, marking the beginning of Korean Paleolithic archaeology.

During the initial excavation process, the system of Paleolithic archaeology was established, and Korean Paleolithic terminology was also settled.

Based on this historical value, the museum operates various exhibitions, educational programs, experience events, and Paleolithic festivals to widely promote the significance of the Paleolithic era and its sites.

There is a sculpture on the roof depicting a Paleolithic person hunting fish.

Next to the Parun Sonbo Memorial Hall is the Permanent Exhibition Hall.

Currently, a program called 'Draw with Numbers!!' is being held.

The outdoor area features grass and a walking path, where the first excavation site was discovered.

Every May, a festival is held at Seokjangri Museum to celebrate Children's Day, filled with programs perfect for kids, attracting large crowds.

The building below is the Experience Learning Center, offering programs such as shell jewelry making (2,000 KRW), prehistoric pattern wooden necklace making (2,000 KRW), Paleolithic keychain making (2,000 KRW), and fossil making (2,000 KRW).

You can register on-site, and participation is available Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 16:30.

The photo below shows the roller slide, which our kids enjoyed a lot. You sit down in a squatting position, and the rollers underneath help you slide down.

It's a unique experience sliding while overlooking the Geumgang River, so be sure to try it when you visit.

▲ Seokjangri Museum

Gongju Seokjangri Museum has popularized Korean prehistoric archaeology.

I recommend visiting this museum with your children to learn about the historical significance of the Paleolithic era while enjoying the spacious park.

When you visit, you might even find a Paleolithic person waiting for you! ^^
