Exploring Jincheon Gwanghye-won Sports Park

Today, I would like to introduce the Jincheon Gwanghye-won Sports Park located in Gwanghye-won-myeon, Jincheon-gun. This park features various sports facilities including running tracks, soccer fields, and walking paths. It is the largest facility in the area, completed in October 2023, and spans approximately 1900 pyeong.
The Gwanghye-won Sports Park is a popular destination, so the parking facilities are well-developed. There are restrooms in the parking lot, and additional parking is available at the stairs leading up from the Coalu Apartments.
The information board at the park provides a map and usage guidelines, making it easy to understand at a glance. The park is open from 6 AM to 10 PM on weekdays and 6 AM to 8 PM on holidays, although some public sports facilities require prior reservations.
Right in front of the parking lot is a ground golf course, which is a popular exercise space for many seniors.
Behind the ground golf course, there are two large courts for foot volleyball. While pets are allowed in the park, they cannot enter the grass fields.
If you head up from the parking lot, you'll find the soccer field and running area. Be cautious as the paths can be icy in winter.
There is a track surrounding the soccer field, which is great for jogging or walking. However, due to the surrounding mountains, some areas may remain icy and shaded in winter. Bicycles, skateboards, and inline skates are prohibited on the soccer field and track.
To use the soccer field, you must access the Jincheon-gun public sports facility reservation system to make a reservation and pay the usage fee. Unauthorized use of the soccer field is not allowed, but the running track is open for anyone to use without a reservation.
Following the path behind the soccer field leads to a resting area, which offers a surprisingly nice view.
There are benches to sit and rest, and since it faces the sunrise, a sunrise event is held here every January 1st.
Continuing along the path leads to the Hwakan Arboretum and Sculpture Garden, where pathways connect to the basketball and tennis courts.
The walking path is divided into gentle and steep courses; I took the steep route. The gentle path is longer but appears to be a more relaxing stroll.
The Hwakan Arboretum and Sculpture Garden is not large, but it features resting spots and separate parking facilities.
The basketball court is located right in front of the parking lot and is spacious enough for group activities.
There is a deck path leading to the tennis courts, allowing for a full walk around the sports park. The Gwanghye-won Sports Park is a place dedicated to the health of the community, and I visit it frequently. Although I’ve paused my running due to the cold weather, I plan to resume my workouts when it warms up. I hope everyone has a healthy day!
