Exploring Hongseong Forest Playground

▲ Hongseong Forest Playground
Recently, I thought I had visited various places in Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do, but I discovered a spot I had never heard of before: the 'Hongseong Forest Playground' located at 196-2 Daegyo-ri, Hongseong-eup. Although it isn't very large, it offers ample space for walking and playing in nature. The earthen path where you can walk barefoot left a wonderful impression on me, making it a recommended place to visit.
▲ Getting There
Hongseong is known for its charm, allowing visitors to explore various attractions on foot. For instance, the 'Hongju Medical Monument' is about a 20-minute walk from Hongseong Station. The Hongseong Forest Playground is roughly a 10-minute walk from the monument.
While there are no dedicated parking facilities, I found enough space to park my car nearby.

Upon arriving at Hongseong Station, I immediately felt the warm atmosphere of the village. As I reached the Hongseong Forest Playground, I noticed the absence of tall buildings, embracing the natural countryside feel. Walking on the unpaved paths, I enjoyed the sensation of earth beneath my feet, which made me want to stroll around.
▲ 1530 Physical Activity
At the entrance, there was a sign for '1530 Physical Activity,' which provided tips for proper walking techniques. It suggested focusing your gaze about 10-15 meters ahead, keeping your back and chest relaxed, and swinging your arms as you walk. It also recommended maintaining a pace of 60-80 steps per minute and breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Even when walking for the same duration, adopting correct walking habits can enhance physical activity benefits.
▲ Maebongjae Healing Barefoot Path
As you continue, be sure to try the 'Maebongjae Healing Barefoot Path' at the playground. The earthen path looks inviting, and especially in summer, it provides a refreshing experience. I took off my shoes and enjoyed walking barefoot, feeling the natural textures beneath my feet.
This experience is even better when shared with family, friends, or loved ones, creating lasting memories.
▲ Poetry Collection
There were various poetry collections available for leisurely reading. It's been a long time since I read poetry, as I used to focus on identifying exam-related features in high school. Now, I find joy in experiencing poetry in my own way.
▲ Foot Wash Station
After walking on the earthen path, you might feel uneasy about putting your socks back on. However, there is a foot wash station available, so you need not worry. It’s advisable to bring a small towel if you plan to use the foot wash station.
Since I had already taken off my shoes, I also explored the sand playground, rediscovering various sensations on my feet.
▲ Hiking Trail
If you're looking to enjoy a longer walk, there’s a trail leading to a hiking path, allowing you to immerse yourself deeper in nature.
▲ Wildflower Room
I stumbled upon a building labeled 'Wildflower Room,' where I found a few people resting in their own ways. This space serves as a refuge where you can taste wildflower tea and relax comfortably.
▲ Wooden Climbing Wall
Initially, I wondered about the purpose of the climbing structure. After trying it out, I discovered it was a wooden climbing wall, allowing for various forms of exercise from walking to climbing.
As I concluded my visit, I cleaned off the dust to maintain the area's cleanliness. Since this is an ecological education site, please do not litter. Additionally, be cautious of bees, as this area is home to various wildlife and plants.
With these considerations in mind, how about visiting the well-maintained Hongseong Forest Playground to walk barefoot on the earthen path and create unique memories in nature?
