Exploring Hallasan 1100m with Public Transport

Hello, this is Spring Day from SsaDolNyeo.
During my recent trip to Jeju, I visited Hallasan 1100m one day.
This time, I took the 240 bus from Jeju Terminal instead of renting a car.
I was hoping for a snowy day at 1100m, but the snow from a few days ago had mostly melted, which was a bit disappointing.
From Jeju Terminal to Hallasan 1100m, I took the 240 bus.
In the morning, I left my accommodation, had breakfast, and headed to Jeju Bus Terminal.
Initially, I was looking forward to the Hallasan Snow Flower bus, but I couldn't catch it on Sunday due to the late hour. I took a regular bus the following Monday instead.
On weekends and holidays, the 1100 and 240 buses run a combined schedule with a total of 12 services due to increased passenger demand.
When boarding the Hallasan Snow Flower bus, you can simply tag your transportation card, and no separate reservation is required.
The 240 bus is the most commonly used route to reach 1100m. It’s convenient as you can board directly from Jeju Terminal, and the scenic views along the way kept the journey interesting.
As the 240 bus gradually ascended, the urban landscape transformed into forest scenery, and I enjoyed the feeling of getting closer to Hallasan.
In winter, the air is clear, and it was a calming experience.
I was ready to step on the 1100m trail wearing my new hiking boots, which I bought on sale for 34,900 won at Decathlon on the 4th floor of Starfield in Goyang.
The bus driver was incredibly tough, navigating both uphill and downhill without hesitation.
Many people are curious about the Hallasan Snow Flower bus schedule. It operates only on weekends and holidays until the end of December this year. However, from January 1 to February 28, 2026, it will run on weekdays as well.
Actually, I planned to take the bus on Sunday, but after a late lunch, it started getting dark, so I visited on a weekday instead.
Be sure to check the weather conditions and road closures before your trip. On days with heavy snowfall, the 1100 road may be closed for safety reasons, so it's advisable to check Jeju's traffic information before heading out.
Upon arriving at 1100m, the air felt completely different. It was much colder than in the city, and the breeze was refreshing. Although the snow flowers had melted away, the remaining snow and the winter mountain atmosphere were still special.
Despite it being a weekday, there were many personal vehicles, making parking difficult and causing the bus to struggle to enter the stop.
After getting off the bus, I noticed many people enjoying the snow in front of the rest area, so we joined them for a while.
We decided to walk to the Tech Trail later.
This trip to 1100m was quite sufficient even without a rental car. I realized that just by utilizing the 240 bus from Jeju Terminal, you can easily visit 1100m.
Even on weekdays when the snow flower bus doesn't operate, if the weather is good, traveling by public transport can be quite satisfying.
As I walked, I found myself speaking less, and I understood that simply gazing at Hallasan in winter can be healing.
If you want to step away from daily life and experience a tranquil winter landscape in Jeju, I highly recommend a bus trip to 1100m.
I will introduce the GS25 convenience store at Hallasan 1100m in the next post.
