As the summer vacation season begins, the number of travelers using airports for domestic and international trips is increasing. Recently, I visited Cheongju International Airport for my trip to Jeju Island, and this time for a trip to Japan.

Cheongju International Airport, a major gateway in Chungbuk, opened in 1997 and serves as a central hub. It offers various routes including Cheongju-Jeju, Da Nang, Nha Trang in Vietnam, and Fukuoka, Tokyo, Osaka, and Sapporo in Japan.

1. Food Map at Cheongju International Airport

One of the first things you notice upon arrival is the 'Cheongju Airport Food Map' displayed throughout the airport. This map allows you to easily see which restaurants and facilities are available on each floor, making it convenient when you need to grab a meal.

On the first floor, you can find places like Hotteok and Baeknyeon Gage, while the second floor features a variety of shops including Twosome Place, Hanwadam, Beurbeurre, No Brand Burger, Playbo6, and Contrancherie, offering more options than you might expect.

If you enjoy bakeries, be sure to check out 'Contrancherie'. They offer special baked goods made with a French chef, and you can find various bakery items that are also allowed on board, making it easy to prepare a quick snack before departure.

2. Internet Zone and Free Charging Area

For those looking to take a break or charge their phones, there are designated areas. The second floor has an internet zone and free charging stations, making it a great spot to use your smartphone or laptop while waiting for your flight. The airport's official information also indicates free charging stations in the general waiting area on the second floor, along with free Wi-Fi available throughout the airport.

After checking in, there are also free charging areas in the waiting lounges, which is quite useful.

3. Lounge for Infants and Pregnant Women

If you are traveling with family, it's good to know about the lounge for infants and pregnant women located on the second floor. This space is ideal for those traveling with young children or pregnant women who need to take a break.

Knowing the location of such resting areas in advance can save you from the hassle of searching for them in a hurry.

4. Sky Gallery

The 'Sky Gallery' on the second floor features various artworks, making it a pleasant place to browse before or after your flight. Beyond just admiring the pieces, you can also purchase artworks you like, with free shipping options available.

5. Pharmacy on the Second Floor

While preparing for your trip, you may suddenly need something. There is a pharmacy on the second floor of Cheongju International Airport where you can purchase essential medicines or simple medical supplies. Especially if you are traveling with family or going on a long trip, knowing the location of the pharmacy in advance can be helpful.

6. Lounge for Mobility-Impaired Travelers

The first floor also has a space for mobility-impaired travelers. The lounge is available for pregnant women, the elderly, and children who may need assistance while using the airport.

The presence of such facilities, along with the information and lost and found center nearby, is commendable.

7. Parking Information

If you're visiting the airport by car, it's wise to check the parking information in advance. Cheongju International Airport has multiple parking lots, and you can prepay for parking in Lots 1 and 2 to avoid delays when exiting. The official website provides real-time parking status for each lot.

If parking spaces are full, you can use Lots 3 and 4, and temporary parking may also be available depending on the situation. During my visit, I used Lot 3, which was a bit farther than Lots 1 and 2 but had plenty of space.

Temporary parking is free and opens only when Lots 3 and 4 are full, so it's good to consider the weather as it is an outdoor area.

I also found transportation options to Osong, Sejong Terminal, and major Chungcheong areas like Daejeon, Yuseong, Gongju, and Buyeo.

Cheongju International Airport serves as a starting point for travel in Chungbuk and the Chungcheong region.

Cheongju International Airport offers a wide range of facilities needed by travelers, from dining and resting areas to charging stations, galleries, pharmacies, parking, and public transport.

As the number of travelers increases during the vacation season, checking parking, transport options, and restaurant locations in advance can help you start your trip more comfortably. If you are planning a summer vacation, consider starting your journey at the convenient Cheongju International Airport.
