Explore Suwon: A Weekend Getaway

Hello,
This is the Korea Tourism Travel Newspaper.
When the weekend comes and you feel like going somewhere but don’t want to travel far, Suwon is the first place that comes to mind.
Suwon, with its unique charm of coexisting past and present, is filled with perfect spots for capturing life’s moments!
Today, I’ll introduce four places in Suwon that guarantee a successful trip, even without a plan!
1. Hyowon Park
Address: 397, Dong Suwon-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do
Hyowon Park, a hidden gem amidst the urban jungle of Ingyedong, is a magical space that allows you to forget the noise of the busy city for a while.
The park features an artificial lake, waterfall, and pavilion, making it feel more spacious and well-organized than you might expect from a small park.
It also showcases architectural styles from Guangdong, China, so you can enjoy unique-shaped gates.
Visiting during the day allows you to bask in warm sunlight and enjoy a leisurely atmosphere, so I recommend going then!
2. Banghwa Su-ryujeong
Address: 44-6, Suwoncheon-ro 392beon-gil, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do
One of the first places that come to mind when thinking of Suwon Hwaseong is Banghwa Su-ryujeong.
From the pavilion, you can see the Suwoncheon and the Hwaseong Fortress, enjoying different landscapes in each season.
This spot exudes an emotional atmosphere, making it great for a brief stay to relax.
It's a perfect stop before visiting Hwaseong, especially beautiful at sunset, making it highly recommended for your Suwon trip.
3. Suwon Hwaseong
Address: 320-2, Yeonghwa-dong, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do
Suwon Hwaseong is a UNESCO World Heritage site that embodies the exceptional architectural technology of the late Joseon period and the reform spirit of King Jeongjo.
Its location in the city center allows it to coexist with everyday life in Suwon, which is a significant attraction.
The atmosphere of the fortress changes from day to night, and it’s one of Suwon's representative tourist spots that everyone can comfortably visit.
If you visit Suwon, be sure to stop by Suwon Hwaseong!
4. Gwanggyo Park & Gwanggyo Reservoir
Address: 159, Gwanggyosan-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do
Finally, we have Gwanggyo Park and Gwanggyo Reservoir, beloved by locals for their walking paths.
Located at the foot of Gwanggyo Mountain, this spot offers fresh air and a chance to enjoy the water.
The gentle slope of the lakeside walking path makes it accessible for everyone, and it’s beautiful year-round, with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall!
For those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle around Hwaseong Haenggung, this tranquil place is the perfect healing course.
From the historically rich Suwon Hwaseong to the exotic Wolhwawon, and the serene Gwanggyo Reservoir, Suwon seems to reveal more of its diverse charm the more you explore it.
Now that spring is here, how about a visit to Suwon?
