Experience the Rich Taste of Geumsan

Located at 119 Sang-ri, Geumsan-eup, Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, Insangol Jangteo Sundae has been a beloved spot among locals for a long time. During my visit, I had the opportunity to savor their rich blood sausage and sundae soup, experiencing the deep hospitality and flavors of Geumsan.
Finding Insangol Jangteo Sundae was easy, thanks to its well-maintained sign that stands out even from a distance. There are plenty of public parking spaces nearby, making it convenient for travelers to enjoy their visit.
The exterior of the restaurant showcases a blend of the old and new, giving it a charming yet clean appearance. The clear signage indicating operating hours helped me plan my visit, and I learned that the restaurant is open daily except for the last Sunday of each month, attracting many locals.
Upon entering, I felt a welcoming atmosphere suitable for solo diners. The efficient table arrangement and the available aprons made for a comfortable dining experience. Each table was neatly set with cups and basic condiments, showing thoughtful attention to detail. For those enjoying sundae soup, soju glasses were also provided for convenience.
In one corner of the restaurant, the essential ingredients for the sundae soup were waiting to be served. The sight of fresh, steaming pork offals assured me of the quality and freshness of the ingredients used. The chef was busy in the kitchen, skillfully preparing dishes, moving between the sundae, soup, and offals.
True to its reputation as a market eatery, a self-serve side dish bar was available, allowing customers to take as many additional side dishes as they wished without hesitation. I particularly enjoyed the delicious radish kimchi and used the bar several times.
After placing my order, the basic side dishes, including radish kimchi and onions, were promptly served. They were perfectly combined to enhance the flavor of the sundae soup, with the crunchy radish kimchi providing a refreshing contrast.
Shortly after, the assorted sundae arrived, beautifully presented and visually appetizing. It featured a variety of pork offals and plump blood sausages, showcasing a delightful texture and flavor. The offals, including head meat and other delicacies, were fresh and free from any unpleasant odors.
Next, I tasted the signature rich blood sausage, which differed from the usual clear noodle variety. Packed with blood and vegetables, it delivered a deep flavor without any fishy taste, although some may find the pork scent noticeable.
For my dining companion who did not order a meal, a clear broth was provided, which was light and refreshing, perfect for warming up before the main dish. Soon after, the main dish, sundae soup, arrived, bubbling and steaming in its earthenware pot, promising a comforting experience.
After adding some spicy seasoning and pepper to my soup, I was pleased with how it balanced the flavors, creating a delightful and hearty meal. The rich broth was filled with various ingredients, including the delicious blood sausage I had previously enjoyed.
Finishing my meal, I reflected on the warm atmosphere and the genuine hospitality that made Insangol Jangteo Sundae a true local gem. My experience here was not just about filling my stomach with affordable food, but rather enjoying heartfelt dishes in a cozy setting, making it a memorable visit to Geumsan.
