If you are looking for a meaningful and fun indoor activity during the winter break, the Buyeo Children's Museum is the perfect destination. Located next to the main Buyeo Museum, this space is specifically designed for children to explore the history of the Baekje Bronze Incense Burner through hands-on experiences.
From touching artifact models to trying on traditional costumes and enjoying interactive media zones, kids can engage with a national treasure in a way that is tailored to their height and interests. It is a wonderful opportunity to turn a cold winter day into an exciting historical adventure.
A Museum Tailored for Kids
The Buyeo Children's Museum(국립부여박물관 어린이박물관) offers a unique experience where children can become friends with a national treasure. The entire facility focuses on the Baekje Bronze Incense Burner (National Treasure No. 287), breaking away from the traditional "look-only" museum approach.
Located next to the main museum and marked by a distinct large elephant sculpture, this indoor space allows children to safely enjoy activities regardless of the weather. It is important to note that the entrance is separate from the performance hall, so keep an eye out for the signs.
Reservation and Visitor Tips
To visit, reservations are essential as on-site bookings are generally not accepted. However, if the number of visitors is below the limit of 70, you might be able to book on-site via a QR code, but checking the status online beforehand is highly recommended. Also, please remember that the museum is closed for lunch from 12 PM to 1 PM.
Upon arrival, you will be guided to a waiting area after checking your reservation. The facility is very child-friendly, featuring restrooms with low sinks and footrests, ensuring a comfortable experience for even the youngest visitors.
Interactive History and Media
Inside the exhibition hall, children can touch and closely examine a model of the incense burner. This tactile experience helps them connect with the artifact in a personal way. Moving deeper into the museum, a media zone presents history through engaging interactive installations, allowing kids to play and learn simultaneously.
There is also a costume experience zone where children of all ages can try on traditional outfits. Whether they are younger or older, there are options available for everyone to transform into a person from the Baekje era.
VR Photos and Creative Activities
One of the highlights is the photo VR zone, where kids can take pictures as if they were the owners of the incense burner. Although the incense playground was under renovation during my visit in December 2025, there are still plenty of other interactive zones where children can create molds and write their wishes.
If the winter cold makes outdoor activities difficult, taking your child to the Buyeo Children's Museum is a fantastic alternative. It provides a warm, educational, and fun environment where history comes alive through play.
