Experience the beauty of spring at Gongju Hanok Village.

As mid-March approaches, the Cornelian cherry blossoms bloom and the weeping willows begin to sprout.

Gongju, located in Chungcheongnam-do, is rich in history from the Baekje and Joseon periods.

It served as the capital of Baekje for 63 years, from 475 to 538.

During the Joseon Dynasty, it was the administrative center where the Chungcheong governor's office was located from 1602 to 1932.

The area is filled with preserved cultural heritage, history, and stunning nature.

Gongju is a top tourist destination in Chungcheongnam-do, offering a variety of themes to enjoy.

One of the most representative courses is the historical tour of the Baekje and Joseon periods.

Among them, Gongju Hanok Village is where you can experience the 330 years of the Chungcheong governor's office in Gongju.

Gongju Hanok Village is situated between the tomb of King Muryeong and the National Gongju Museum.

The Gongju Baekje Cultural Center, which opened last month, is also nearby.

Opened in 2010, the Hanok Village features traditional hanok stay facilities with 22 houses and 56 rooms.

There are also restaurants serving Korean food, cafes, and convenience stores.

Nearby, the restored Seonhwadang, where the Chungcheong governor worked, and the gate of the Chungcheong governor's office can be found.

Last autumn, the Chungcheong governor's living village opened, providing insight into its history.

Even without an overnight stay, you can enjoy a delightful traditional experience for half a day.

End your visit with a relaxing foot bath experience.

Gongju Hanok Village is open year-round at 12 Tourist Complex Road, Woonjin-dong, Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do.

As the season transitions quickly towards spring, wildflowers like the mountain magpie flower bloom at your feet, and the Cornelian cherry blossoms and weeping willows come to life along the village alleys.

The yellow flower buds burst open, and fresh green leaves emerge.

The flowers and trees, after a long wait, change day by day.

The natural curves of traditional tiled and thatched-roof buildings enhance the essence of spring.

Gongju Hanok Village is a wonderful place to stroll through its alleys.

The entrances, including the Soit Gate, are open, and some houses have no walls, allowing you to enjoy the hanok atmosphere.

While only a few hanoks are open to visitors, the cheerful signs protect the guests.

Despite this, the hanoks connect beautifully through low walls, and the alleys are lovely.

Walking through the alleys, you will encounter cultural heritage.

At the end of the Hanok Village alley, you will find the Chungcheong governor's living village.

It opened in October last year and features three experience halls and one exhibition hall.

You can learn about the history of Gongju as the administrative center of Chungcheong-do during the Joseon Dynasty.

The experience hall offers various programs.

A free foot bath facility, supplied with water from the underground Geumgang hot spring, is available at the entrance of the Hanok Village.

It operates from 10 AM to 5 PM, and towels are provided for visitors.

As the weather warms, the outdoor foot bath will be very popular.

Gongju Hanok Village primarily offers hanok experiences, but even a simple tour of the alleys is enriching.

Enjoy the beautiful hanok architecture, flowers, and trees along the alleys, and explore the history of the Chungcheong governor's living village.

I highly recommend it as a healing outing to enjoy spring.
