Enjoy a 2-Hour Coastal Trek on the Sapgyoho Tourist Site's Seashore Trail

The journey of walking while feeling the sea breeze is romantic just to imagine. The vast sea changes every moment, even within a single day from day to night, depending on the season.
In Dangjin, with its romantic sea, you can enjoy a walking journey in about 2 hours. There is a total of 5.8KM of coastal trail from Sapgyoho Tourist Site to Eumseong Port. With the addition of a 1.3km coastal promenade this fall to the existing 4.5km walking path, it has now been completed.
Dangjin, where the sea and inland areas come together, stretches from Sapgyoho to Waemok Village Beach at the edge of Dangjin. You'll also venture inland at times and cross the Seokmun Seawall.
The route starts from Sapgyoho Tourist Site and passes through Matdol Port, Eumseom Port, Hanjin Port, Anseom Port, Janggo Port, and ends at Waemok Village Beach. Among them, the coastal trail from Sapgyoho Tourist Site to Eumseom Port is a great walking destination.
The deck road begins past the Sapgyoho Tourist Site Sea Park. It's a great seaside path for walking in spring and autumn. Walking is not recommended in summer due to the lack of shade, or in winter due to the cold sea breeze.
Early December, until the end of autumn, would be a good time to walk. The newly created section was about 1.3km from Sapgyoho Tourist Site to the Marine Camping Park. This is the section where the coastal exploration path begins, which was previously connected by a forest road.
Walk along the deck road. Several ships are docked, and in the distance, you can see the Seohae Bridge connecting Dangjin and the metropolitan area.
As you move forward, the Seohae Bridge gets closer, and the Sapgyoho Tourist Site with its Ferris wheel moves further away.
The coastal trail is directly adjacent to the West Sea's waterfront. In the newly completed section, going inside the sea felt like walking on the water.
The land is next to the deck fence with a narrow gap, and the gaze towards the sea only looks out at the distant, vast ocean. It was a romantic and mysterious feeling, so I highly recommend taking a walk.
While walking on the deck road, I met someone who was very happy about the completion of the deck road. They said it's a path they often walked, and the completion of the construction made it even better for walking.
I had also walked this path a couple of times, and it was even more attractive as the detour at the beginning became shorter.
Passing the Marine Camping Park, it connects to the existing coastal trail. The deck road, which borders the forest road where cars run, stretches long, and there are shelters and sculptures in the middle of the streetlights that make the night road safe. The Sapgyoho Coastal Trail alternates between the vast sea and the mudflats where deep tidal creeks are formed depending on the tide. On the day of the visit, the high tide brought seawater up to the deck road.
The fields adjacent to the sea have been harvested, and the coastal exploration course also indicates how much you have walked and how much you have to walk. In November, as autumn deepens, the days are getting shorter little by little every day from the autumnal equinox in mid-September, when the nights get longer, to the winter solstice in mid-December, when the nights are the longest.
As it gets closer to 5 o'clock, the sun sets and it gradually gets darker. I was momentarily taken aback by the darkness at a time that would have been broad daylight just 1-2 weeks ago.
The Sapgyoho Coastal Trail starts at Matdolpo Pier, the first stop, passes Maesan Coastal Park with the Road 1950 Cafe overlooking it and the Haeoreum Cafe, and turns right to Eumseong Port. The quiet road becomes bustling as it approaches Matdolpo, with cafes, restaurants, and a pier forming, and then connects back to a quiet seaside road.
Throughout the walk, the Seohae Bridge unfolds in front of you, and you walk with the sea on your right. However, due to the early darkness, I finished walking at Matdolpo Pier.
The coastal exploration path starting from Sapgyoho Tourist Site has been extended with a deck promenade this fall. It is the section from Sapgyoho Tourist Site to Marine Camping Park.
The Ferris wheel of the amusement park, the Seohae Bridge, and the beautiful sea view have become even closer. Beautiful scenery unfolds along the flat deck road that follows the coastline. I recommend it as a relaxing walking journey.
