Hello!

This is a Danyang travel guide, offering a glimpse into the various news and tourist attractions of Danyang!

Danyang's representative tourist destination: Danyang Palgyeong (Eight Scenic Wonders of Danyang)!

We've already introduced Seokmun, Dodamsambong, Gudambong, and Sainam!

Today, we will introduce the remaining four scenic spots of Danyang Palgyeong.

Shall we embark on a journey together to explore Danyang Palgyeong, a source of pride for Danyang residents and tourists from various regions?

How much of Danyang Palgyeong have you seen? Danyang's representative attractions, Danyang Palgyeong #2

Oksunbong Peak

Oksunbong Peak gets its name from the white and blue rocks that vigorously soar towards the sky like bamboo shoots.

The uniquely shaped and beautiful peaks formed by bizarre rocks are also called 'Sogeumgang' (Little Geumgang).

The most enjoyable way to experience it is by taking a Chungju Lake cruise or a tour boat, along with Danyang Gudambong Peak.

Especially during the autumn foliage season, it's a place with constant visitors, making it difficult to board a boat without advance reservation.

Oksunbong Peak was originally located in Jecheon, but during the reign of King Myeongjong of Joseon, it became the gateway to Danyang thanks to the efforts of Toegye Yi Hwang.

We recommend taking a cruise to observe the beautiful Oksunbong Peak, which gives the feeling of sprouting tree buds, and spending a healing time!

Sangseonam Rock

Sangseonam Rock, harmonizing with clear and deep valley waters, is a famous spot among the Danyang Palgyeong!

Located at the top of Seonam Valley, it is called 'Sangseonam,' which means the rock at the top.

The small and large rocks gathered together evoke the image of our simple and generous ancestors.

Although the valley is crystal clear, its depth is unpredictable, so access to the valley is prohibited for safety reasons.

Danyang Sangseonam Rock is located in the middle of the 'Seonamgol Ecological Trail,' the first section of the Danyang Slow Walk Trail that follows Seonam Valley. It's a great idea to leisurely stroll along the neatly decorated deck path, visiting three of the Danyang Palgyeong – Sangseonam, Jungseonam, and Haseonam – and feeling like a divine being.

The Seonam Valley has many recreational forests, camping grounds, training centers, pensions, and private accommodations, making it a popular Danyang attraction for individual and group tourists.

Jungseonam Rock

Danyang Jungseonam Rock, named by Kim Su-jeung, a civil official during the reign of King Hyojong of Joseon, is located in the center of the three Danyang Palgyeong in Seonam Valley.

Jungseonam features two large rocks called Okyeomdae and Myeonggyeongdae, and the inscription 'Sagun Gangsan Samseon Suseok' is engraved on Okyeomdae.

This inscription, written by Yun Heon-ju, the governor of Chungcheong Province, means 'Among the four nearby regions, Sangseonam, Jungseonam, and Haseonam are the most beautiful.'

Interestingly, the name of the stonemason who engraved it and the date are also recorded.

Did you know that Toegye Yi Hwang called this valley 'a place where gods played' and named Seonam Valley Samseongugok?

Haseonam Rock

Seonam Valley, where the waters of Woraksan Mountain flow into the Namhan River, is home to three of the Danyang Palgyeong: Sangseonam, Jungseonam, and Haseonam.

Danyang Haseonam, which has three tiers, forms a courtyard with a width of about 100 feet, and a round and large rock is placed on top of it. Its shape resembles a Maitreya, so it is also called Bulam or Mireuk Rock.

During the reign of King Seongjong of Joseon, Lim Jae-gwang, the governor of Danyang, called this rock Seonam because it was where the gods played. The mirror-like clear water flows day and night, and the rock reflected in the water is as radiant as a rainbow, so it was also called Hongam.

The reason it was called by so many names is probably due to the eight-toned charm of Danyang Haseonam.
