Goesan in Chungcheongbuk-do is gradually becoming a destination with more to offer.

It's wonderful to see an increase in places that are great to visit with children.

The Goesan Aquarium has been around for a while, and most children in the Chungbuk region have probably already been there.

I had only visited the aquarium, but I recently discovered that there's another experience center nearby.

This is the Goegang Native Fish Experience Center. It's located right next to the Goesan Aquarium, so I highly recommend visiting both as a single outing.

Before entering, I read about the photos and characteristics of fish species found in Goesan's inland waters.

Opened on July 23, 2024, the Goegang Native Fish Experience Center features a freshwater fish experience hall and a children's playground. It's well-designed for both adults and children to learn about native fish in a fun and engaging way.

While it may not offer extravagant sights and experiences, there are several interesting activities that stimulate children's curiosity and interest.

The children especially enjoyed the activity where they could choose a native fish, color it in on a computer, and display it on the screen. They had a blast playing there.

Since it wasn't crowded, they were able to do it multiple times, which they loved.

After the experience at the center, there's a playroom where the children spent even more time playing. While it might be uninteresting for children in elementary school or older, it seems like a very fun place for preschoolers.

There's also a rest area where you can read books or play with toys.

After having fun at the Goegang Fish Experience Center, we headed over to the nearby Goesan Aquarium.

The Goesan Aquarium, which opened on May 16, 2024, is still operating for free.

In addition to the aquarium, there's also an insect experience exhibition hall right next door, making it a great place for a fulfilling experience.

It has a total area of 1440㎡ and features seven exhibition spaces, including a 350-ton main tank and a 270-degree underwater tunnel.

Recently, the Goesan Aquarium surpassed 500,000 cumulative visitors and held a celebration to commemorate the milestone.

I've visited several times, and it's always crowded on weekends. It's a wonderful space that everyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy. It's amazing and appreciated that such a place is operated for free in Chungbuk.

Wheelchairs and strollers are available for children and people with disabilities, and there's also a nursing room.

Even after visiting multiple times, it's always rewarding to see the children amazed and enjoying the fish.

My older child, who is now in elementary school, even takes photos and videos with their phone and tries to memorize the names of the fish by looking at the pictures at home.

On weekends, there's an underwater show at 2 PM, so be sure to arrive on time to enjoy the fantastic performance.

There are two photo booths near the exit where you can take four-cut photos for free, creating fun memories to take home.

Goesan in Chungcheongbuk-do is constantly improving.

If you haven't visited yet, be sure to go and create fulfilling and enjoyable memories!
