Discover the Muju Chori Kkongkkong Festival

Hello! Let me introduce you to the Muju Chori Kkongkkong Festival, reported by the 'SNS Supporter Bomppa'.
This is a winter festival in Muju where you can experience fun activities with your child!
In winter, many people think of ski resorts or sledding hills, but if you're with kids, you tend to seek out more experiential and safe places!
That's why we visited the Muju Chori Kkongkkong Festival.
This festival is held in Chori Village, a small rural area located in Jeollabuk-do, Muju-gun, and is characterized by participation and operation by the local residents.
Unlike large commercial festivals, this festival is filled with a warm atmosphere that allows children to experience traditional winter games and adults to reminisce about their childhood.
Location: 400 Bukchang-ri, Jeoksang-myeon, Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do
It's not far from the Muju Meru Wine Cave, making it a great addition to your winter travel itinerary in Muju.
Operating Dates: December 25, 2025 - February 18, 2026
Operating Hours: 10 AM - 5 PM (Sledding break: 12 PM - 12:40 PM)
If you're visiting with children, keep in mind the sledding break around lunchtime.
Parking and Amenities: There is a dedicated parking area near the festival site. However, due to its popularity, weekends can get quite crowded.
If the parking lot is full, staff will kindly direct you to nearby side roads for parking, so you don't have to worry too much.
Since it's a small village, there aren't many shops or buildings around, but the parking area has restrooms, making it convenient for families.
Festival Landscape & Activities: From across the street, you can see the festival grounds and feel that it's a winter festival.
A standout feature is the ice waterfall created against the backdrop of the mountains, which looks beautiful in photos and is a great spot for experiencing the winter atmosphere with kids.
As you enter, you can find:
✔️ Mini rides (Mini Viking)
✔️ Sledding area
✔️ Ice sledding experience area
✔️ Dalgona making
✔️ Kkongkkong train, among other fun activities for children.
When I visited, there were still some areas under preparation before 10 AM, but overall, the quality of the festival grounds was impressive.
For parents, this festival offers a chance to relive childhood memories of playing on frozen fields or rivers with ice sleds.
Here, you can experience winter games with your children, creating new memories for them while cherishing your own.
If you typically visit ski resorts in Muju, this festival is a wonderful alternative for those who can't ski, have young children, or want a lighter experience for a day.
If you're looking for a charming winter festival where you can laugh and enjoy with your child, I highly recommend visiting the Muju Chori Kkongkkong Festival.
