Hello! This is Jangheung Travel.
Today, we'd like to introduce you to <Jangheung Yeyang Park>, where literature and nature harmonize!
It's located at 96 Eupseong-ro, Jangheung-eup, Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do. There's a Culture and Arts Center nearby, so you can park there and walk over!
This is the path to Yeyang Park! Lush green trees line both sides, and the scent of grass carried on the breeze refreshes your mood.
Yeyang Park was selected as a regional innovation strategy project site by Jeollanam-do in 2020, and the 'Historical Fragrance Forest Theme Park' project is underway. Construction began in 2023, and it is scheduled to be completed this year!
Thanks to its design that allows you to enjoy history and nature together, it's a special space where you can enjoy not only walks but also cultural experiences.
Walking through the park, you can easily find signposts for Gasa literature, a point of pride for Jangheung. Gasa literature, which developed starting with Jeong Geuk-in's Sangchun-gok from the Joseon Dynasty, became even richer through writers from Jangheung.
A representative figure is Master Gibong Baek Gwang-hong. You can feel the depth of Jangheung's literary roots throughout the park!
In particular, out of 31 Gasa literature writers from Honam, a whopping 7 are from Jangheung. Therefore, there are many steles with literary works inscribed in the park, giving you the feeling of walking through a small literary exhibition.
Yeyang Park has various poetry monuments, including Damrakga, Dongrakga, Gwonhakga, and Inilga, with works inscribed on stone tablets, allowing you to see various forms of literature.
In addition, there is a Memorial Tower to commemorate the patriotic martyrs and guardians who sacrificed their lives for the country.
There is also a space where you can take a break!
If you want to take a light walk and heal, or if you want to feel the scent of literature a little closer, this is a great place to visit.
If you come to Jangheung, we highly recommend visiting <Jangheung Yeyang Park>!
