Residents actively participate,

and energy profits are shared with the village.

Sinan-gun is creating new income for the village through

community-led renewable energy projects.

On the 21st, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety selected

Sangseo 1-ri village in Sinan-myeon as a finalist

in the "2026 Solar Income Village First Contest".

A total of 129 villages applied nationwide,

with 86 villages ultimately selected.

Residents Create Their Own 'Solar Income'

The Solar Income Village initiative allows residents

to form cooperatives and participate in

renewable energy projects, sharing the profits

with the community.

By reinvesting the profits into community revitalization,

this initiative is expected to enhance resident incomes

and invigorate the local economy.

Lowering resident burdens while increasing real income

Sinan-gun will support 50% of residents' initial costs

through the Local Extinction Response Fund.

Starting with 250 million won this year,

the plan is to improve conditions for residents' participation

and ensure stable project implementation.

By reducing financial burdens related to funding or loans,

the actual profits returned to residents are expected

to grow significantly.

Based on the 50% support for self-funding,

a simple estimate for a 1MW project suggests

an additional income increase of about 6 million won

per village each year.

ESS Installation Supported by Sinan-gun

As the Jeonnam-Gwangju area faces saturation in power systems,

the installation of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) is necessary

for advancing renewable energy projects.

Sinan-gun plans to support residents in installing ESS

without additional burdens.

The installation costs will be covered by 40% national funds,

30% local funds, and 30% from VPP,

with specific details to be finalized based on future support plans.

Expanding to More Villages

Following this first contest,

four more villages, including Jido-eup and Palgeum-myeon,

have completed applications for the upcoming second contest.

Sinan-gun will continue to provide administrative support

for permits, financial assistance, and grid connections,

ensuring residents can participate in renewable energy projects securely.

and a brighter future for the community!

renewable energy model,

creating sustainable villages where energy profits

translate into resident income and local economic growth.
