Hello!

In this coverage, I visited the newly opened Chilgapsan Tower and Skywalk at Cheongyang Chilgap Lake.

According to a report by Yonhap News, the Chilgap Tower and Observatory, located in the Chilgap Lake area of Daechi-myeon, Cheongyang-gun, opened on the morning of the 14th. The Chilgap Tower is a six-story building, and the observatory is installed in the middle of the lake. The two buildings are connected by a 100-meter-long suspension bridge, the Skywalk. Visitors can walk across the suspension bridge to the 57-meter-high observatory and enjoy a panoramic view of Chilgap Lake. Taking the elevator down from the Skywalk, you can cross the lake via a floating pedestrian bridge installed on the water surface to reach the recreation forest and surrounding tourist attractions. The county plans to develop Chilgap Tower into a stay-type tourist area where families can stay and enjoy various experiences in connection with the nearby Chilgapsan Natural Recreation Forest, Go-un Botanical Garden, and Wood Culture and Natural History Experience Center.

A closer look at the Chilgap Tower and Observatory:

The building on the right is Chilgap Tower. Crossing the 100-meter-long bridge at a height of 57 meters, you'll find a building in the center of the lake, which is the observatory overlooking Chilgap Lake. The Chilgap Tower Observatory also has a content experience hall utilizing media images.

In summary, Chilgap Tower and the observatory built on Chilgap Lake:

First, the address is 316-10, Gwangdae-ri, Daechi-myeon, Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do.

Second, operating hours are from 10 AM to 5 PM, closed every Monday.

Third, admission fees are 7,000 won for adults, 5,000 won for teenagers, 3,000 won for children, and 2,000 won for toddlers. Cheongyang, Buyeo, and Gongju residents receive a 50% discount. Visitors who do not receive a discount will receive up to 3,000 won back in Cheongyang Love Gift Certificates.

Fourth, after entering, you can take the 100-meter-long Skywalk suspension bridge through the 6th floor of Chilgap Tower and walk to the observatory in the center of Chilgap Lake, where you can see the entire view of Chilgap Lake.

Inside the first floor, there is information about the viewing hours and admission fees, and the interior is filled with the scent of chrysanthemums.

Since the opening was recent, chrysanthemums were especially decorating the first floor. You can experience Chilgap Tower and the Skywalk, and also walk on the floating pedestrian bridge.

This is the floating pedestrian bridge installed across Chilgap Lake.

It crosses Chilgap Lake, heading towards the recreation forest on one side and a duck sculpture on the other, with a length of 600m.

On a nice day, it would be great to take a round trip on the floating pedestrian bridge and enjoy the natural scenery of Chilgap Lake.

The floating pedestrian bridge allows you to cross the lake with a swaying feeling, as if you were walking on a suspension bridge.

This pontoon bridge is connected to the existing promenade deck, and you can also see the Chilgapsan Natural Recreation Forest along the way.

I walked along the lakeside path deck that was originally there, following the lake.

Although the flowers have all disappeared due to the winter cold, the occasional chrysanthemums and red berries seemed to give even more joy.

At the end of the floating pedestrian bridge in the opposite direction of the natural recreation forest, there is a duck sculpture.

A friend who accompanied me said that the swaying of the floating bridge on Chilgap Lake was scary and wanted to leave quickly.

In the end, I was unable to see the pair of duck sculptures installed at the end of the floating pedestrian bridge up close, which was a shame.

However, a more special course was waiting. You can think of it as a bonus you get when you visit Chilgap Tower.

Adjacent to Chilgap Tower, there is the Farmer's Market and Bomnal Cafe on the first floor, where you can find products born from Cheongyang's sunshine. And on the second floor, there is the Farmer's Table, where you can fill your hunger with the warmth of the sun, which is a great charm.

Now, let's visit the Cheongyang Local Food Farmer's Market and Farmer's Table, which are located within 50 meters of Chilgap Tower.

On the first floor, there is a cafe where you can drink tea, along with farmers' agricultural products, and on the second floor, there is a restaurant called Farmer's Table that cooks and serves rice with Cheongyang farmers' agricultural products.

On the day I visited, there were many visitors, and people had to wait for about 20 minutes to eat. It seemed that more tourists were visiting since the opening of Chilgap Tower. As time goes by, it seems to have the conditions to become a tourist center of Cheongyang.

Weekday lunch specials are available at a special price of 13,000 won until 1 PM.

After finishing a delicious meal with hot pot rice and nurungji (scorched rice), I went back down to the first floor.

There were people drinking tea and many people buying agricultural products. Cheongyang is famous for Cheongyang chili peppers and Chinese matrimony vines (Gugija) as specialties.

I had never tried Gugija before, so I was curious and ordered a tea to taste it.

It tasted more savory than I thought, and I felt like my body was warming up and getting better when I drank it on a slightly chilly day.

Looking at the products made from Gugija, I saw Gugija jerky, Gugija steamed bread, and Gugija red pepper paste in other sections.

Benefits of Gugija:

Immune Enhancement, Liver and Stomach Function Promotion, Antioxidant, Anticancer, Antibacterial Effects, Antihyperglycemic Effect, Prevention of Arteriosclerosis and Hypertension, Strengthening of Bones and Prevention of Anemia, Liver Function Improvement, Prevention of Adult Diseases, Anti-aging, Skin Beauty

Legend of Gugija:

Around the Gugijeong well in the Tang Dynasty, the roots of an old tree passed through the well, and all the villagers who drank the well water lived long lives.

In the Supplementary Compilation of Hyangyakjipseongbang, a woman whipping is the mother, and the grandfather being whipped is her son. The mother continued to eat Gugija and remained young, while the son did not eat it and looked old. It is recorded that continuing to eat Gugija can make your skin beautiful and help you live longer.

Walking across the suspension bridge

After touring the Chilgap Lake Observatory and Skywalk in Cheongyang, there may be days when you are at war with the cold.

At times like that, you can come to this Bomnal Cafe and finish your trip with a cup of Gugija tea that makes you feel younger and warmer.

So far, this has been the coverage of the new travel destination, Chilgap Lake Observatory and Skywalk.
