A ceremony was held to honor the true heroes who appear first in times of need and quietly disappear once the work is done. On December 5th, the Day of Volunteers in Dangjin City was celebrated at the main auditorium of the Dangjin City Hall.

The supporters also participated in the event as part of the volunteers. Before the event started, they took four-cut photos and Polaroid pictures to commemorate the Day of Volunteers.

Each volunteer attending the ceremony received a beautiful rose as a token of appreciation for their hard work in sharing warmth under the name of volunteering.

With the theme of 'The Song We All Know,' the Kreutz Ensemble performed, allowing attendees to enjoy the cultural performance rather than focusing solely on volunteering.

Following the performance, a video report on the 2025 initiatives was shown. It was noted that out of Dangjin's population of 170,000, over 70,000 are registered volunteers who dedicate their time, effort, and hearts to share warmth.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of awards to outstanding volunteers. The Mayor of Dangjin awarded Kim Jeong-bae (Happy Taste Dream), Lee Myung-ja (Writing Love Volunteer Group), Jo Yeong-ok (Dangjin Central District Citizen Police), Hwang Jong-gap (Soso Volunteer Group), Han Sang-bun (Hyundai Steel Ma Jungmul Housewife Volunteer Group), Kim Jae-seon (Songsan Agricultural Cooperative Housewife Group), Lee Hong-i (Seokmun-myeon Development Association), Seong Gi-don (Joo, EGBIO), and the Happy Prism Family Volunteer Group.

Additionally, the Dangjin City Council awarded Lee Gwan-haeng (Hyundai Steel HAPA Volunteer Group), Jeong Bok-jin (Sunsung-myeon Fire Brigade), Shin Hyun-soo (Volunteer Basic Education Instructor Group), and Shin Yu-jeong (Donggeurami Family Volunteer Group). The National Assembly also recognized Kim Eun-ja (Hyundai Steel Ma Jungmul Housewife Volunteer Group) and Moon Jeong-sook (Dangjin Senior University).

Special commendations were given to volunteers over 70 years old who have served more than 5,000 hours, awarded to Moon Jeong-min (Haenaru Citizen School) and Kwak Geun-soon (Guisarang Volunteer Group).

Moon Jeong-min expressed gratitude, saying, "I believe this award is a motivation to work harder, and I will rush to help those in need." Kwak Geun-soon also conveyed her thanks for receiving this precious award.

Finally, a certificate presentation ceremony was held, where Moon Seon-i from Haenaru Citizen School, who participated in over 10,000 hours of volunteering, received her certificate. She stated, "I received this certificate while enjoying time with respected and beloved individuals, and I will continue to lead in volunteering."

Volunteers are those who are moved by their hearts rather than being compelled to act. During the summer flooding, rapid emergency recovery was made possible thanks to volunteers, who illuminate the city with their unseen efforts, contributing to a happier Dangjin.
