Berry Berry Run: A Unique Running Festival in Geochang

Today, I attended a unique running event called 'Berry Berry Run' at Geochang Sports Park.
The Berry Berry Run is a running festival themed around Geochang's representative agricultural product, strawberries!
Participants can experience the journey of becoming a strawberry as they pass through three courses: carbon dioxide, water, and wind, making the event increasingly delightful.
This is a race without records or rankings, allowing everyone, from children to adults, to enjoy together.
This year's event, the first of its kind, was a running experience unlike a typical marathon.
There were no records or rankings, so both kids and adults could run at their own pace and enjoy the experience.
Initially, at the Geochang Sports Park, participants checked in and received their bib numbers, strawberry bandanas, and wireless earphones for the sound run.
The Berry Berry Run course comprised two laps of a 4km route, where participants could enjoy exciting music through their earphones.
The running events were scheduled for 11 AM and 3 PM. It rained during the morning session, so we ran wearing raincoats and carrying umbrellas.
Fortunately, it didn't rain in the afternoon, making it easier to run.
Despite the rain, many people participated in the event.
With the starting signal, we followed a DJ on a bicycle and lightly ran two laps around the track.
We didn't run too fast, which was actually nice.
Though I was worried about the rain, I realized that this weather would create even more memorable moments.
The children mentioned that running in the rain was a rare and enjoyable experience.
After completing the track, we proceeded to the challenge course prepared outside the stadium.
Following the guidance of the staff, we encountered the first challenge course: the carbon dioxide course.
In the carbon dioxide zone, bubbles emerged, making the kids excited.
This course symbolizes the beginning of growth, making strawberries bigger and sweeter.
After passing the carbon dioxide course, we received a coin.
As we continued running, we reached the water course.
This course represents the power of growth that makes strawberries fresh and strong!
After passing the water course, we received another coin.
Continuing on, we arrived at the wind course.
In the wind zone, a cool breeze from a fan refreshed us.
The wind course promotes a healthy and balanced environment for strawberry growth.
We received another coin here as well.
Completing one more lap on the challenge course allowed us to collect six coins.
With six coins in hand, we received our rewards: a completion medal, strawberry jelly, strawberry snacks, and 500g of strawberries!

Even in May, the strawberries were fresh and delicious.
Wearing the completion medal, we took photos at the lovely Berry Berry Run mascot photo zone.
There were several photo zones set up around the venue, making it great for taking pictures.
It was heartwarming to see the children proud after completing the run.
In addition to the running event, the Berry Berry Run featured a mini sports day, busking, a flea market, and a variety of food options.
After running, we visited the experience area.
True to the theme of Geochang strawberries, there were many strawberry-related snacks available.
We enjoyed strawberry lattes, strawberry mochi, and even apples, another representative agricultural product of Geochang.
Activities like making strawberry bead bracelets, wax ball crafting, and face painting were also available, providing plenty of fun for the kids.
There were delicious treats like hot dogs, spiral potatoes, rice cake skewers, and fried chicken.
On one side, busking performances were taking place.
Children could also enjoy coloring as part of the strawberry festival coloring activity.
Members of the Geochang Youth Club, Painting Mate, were distributing beautiful paintings of famous spots in Geochang, which were enjoyable to look at.
The first Berry Berry Run event in Geochang was wonderful, with a variety of activities including running, a flea market, food options, and busking performances.
I hope the Berry Berry Run, themed around Geochang's representative agricultural product, strawberries, will continue to grow and become a signature event for Geochang!
