Autumn is a season brimming with festival news! I recently visited the Jeongseon Arirang Festival held in Jeongseon. True to its reputation for clear water and fresh air, the festival atmosphere was simple yet heartwarming... It was a wonderful way to fully enjoy autumn.
The festival was filled with sights, activities, and food, making it a truly energetic and enjoyable experience. I'm excited to share my story of visiting the Jeongseon Arirang Festival, which exceeded my expectations.
Jeongseon Arirang Festival
Festival Venue: Jeongseon Public Stadium and surrounding areas
Festival Dates: 2025.09.25 ~ 2025.09.28
The Jeongseon Arirang Festival is a representative festival celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. As a festival boasting 50 years of history and tradition, its scale was exceptional. The entire public stadium was transformed into a festival ground, bustling with local residents and visitors alike, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
I appreciated the convenience of traveling by the Arirang Train. Upon arriving at Mindungsan Station, a bus was waiting to transport our group. The thought of a train journey was exciting in itself, and the lush greenery unfolding outside the window was equally delightful.
I visited on the first day, September 25th. Although I was initially disappointed by the rain, it fortunately stopped after lunch. It seems luck was on my side with the weather!
I followed the guide to the dining area and chose a food stall for lunch. The food stalls offered a variety of options to suit different tastes. Since we were a large group, we opted for a restaurant serving beef soup, a universally liked dish.
The meal included sliced boiled pork and hot beef soup. The pork was tender and free of any unpleasant smell, and the soup was both refreshing and spicy – a perfect combination. After finishing a bowl, I felt completely satisfied.
Exploring the Festival Grounds
The entrance was adorned with vibrant red spider lilies. I couldn't resist taking a photo amidst the stunning flowerbed. Many people were capturing memories here. The happiness that flowers bring was a great way to start.
I was curious to see what a festival with 50 years of history would look like. Various experience booths and food stalls attracted many visitors. I was impressed by how well-organized and large the festival was compared to others. The spacing between booths and the flow of movement were carefully considered, creating an environment that was not only organized but also clean and visually appealing.
Each booth was busy preparing to welcome guests. Despite the rain, there was no sense of disarray. It felt like a privilege to be visiting this event, which was made possible by the participation and efforts of many people in Jeongseon.
Of course, there were plenty of fun activities too! There were various games and attractions for children to enjoy. Seeing familiar games that I often saw in amusement parks brought back fond memories.
As you can see, the flow of traffic was well-managed, and restroom signs were prominently displayed, making them easy to find. The restrooms were also kept very clean through constant maintenance.
Enjoying the Experience Booths
I had the opportunity to participate in various experience booths throughout the Jeongseon Arirang Festival. At the fan-making booth, I wrote "Jeongseon Arirang Festival 2025" on a fan. How does it look? Pretty nice, right? I also participated in making a mirror pendant. I colored a pretty flower-shaped mirror and attached a knot to use it as a key ring or pendant.
The most enjoyable experience among the various booths was the Mystery Tour. This involved completing hidden missions throughout the festival grounds for a special prize. I participated in the Mystery Tour and received a gift: a mini bag filled with goodies.
I used the Jeongseon Arirang gift certificate I received as a prize at a food truck. It was the perfect time for a refreshing coffee, so I enjoyed an iced latte, my favorite, and took a break.
For those planning to visit the Jeongseon Arirang Festival, I highly recommend obtaining a guidebook. The festival grounds are quite extensive, and a map is essential for navigating the various experience areas. I diligently used the map and filled the eco-bag I brought with gifts. This is why I'm already looking forward to next year's festival. Exploring the booths with a "stamp tour" concept would also be a lot of fun.
Capturing Photos at Photo Zones
Taking commemorative photos is a must! I took a lap around the festival grounds and found my own photo spots. There are many fun photo zones perfect for capturing memories of the festival, so be sure to take some pictures.
I had a wonderful day exploring the booths and taking photos at the beautiful photo zones. In particular, different events are held each day, so there will be fun things to do every day.
Silver Choir Competition
The opening day featured a Silver Choir Competition. Watching performances by choirs composed of senior citizens from various villages was enjoyable. The cheers from the regional cheering squads added another layer of entertainment to the performances.
Promotional Booths
There were also many promotional booths. The Jeongseon Return-to-Rural-Life booth attracted a lot of attention. Participating in this booth offered various gifts, so those interested shouldn't miss this opportunity.
The volunteer booth offered free coffee and water, so you can stop by for a warm cup of instant coffee to relieve fatigue. It's also a good idea to bring an extra bag to carry the gifts you receive.
In October, a music festival will be held at the Gariwangsan Cable Car, offering a chance to enjoy the deepening autumn with music. The lineup of performers is full of artists who can bring back memories.
Autumn is great, but it's even better because of the festivals we can enjoy during this season.
