Autumn at Ganggyeong Port: A Day of Healing

A Fulfilling Day at Ganggyeong Port
Location: 198, Hwangsan-ri, Ganggyeong-eup, Nonsan-si, Chungnam
I visited the cosmos fields and the Raphael vessel near the Geumgang Estuary bike path in Ganggyeong Port, Nonsan, Chungnam.
The comprehensive guide map for the modern historical and cultural area related to Nonsan travel divides the area into four courses: Modern Culture Course, Commercial Culture Course, Confucian Culture Course, and Pilgrimage Course.
The comprehensive guide map is very helpful for those traveling to Nonsan, so I hope you refer to it when planning your trip by course.
I also found the comprehensive guide map very helpful for my trip to Nonsan.
The cosmos flowers were in full bloom near the Geumgang Estuary bike path at Nonsan Ganggyeong Port, attracting many visitors.
As it was a beautiful view of Ganggyeong Port that can only be seen in the fall, I was drawn to the cosmos flower fields.
The Geumgang Estuary, the bike path, and the blooming cosmos flowers harmonized beautifully.
The scenery filled with blooming cosmos flowers was so beautiful that I took many pictures.
This place is located near the Ganggyeong Salt Literature Museum and Oknyeo Peak, so it would be good to combine them into a single course.
Walking along the path filled with cosmos flowers was like stepping into a picture or postcard, relieving the fatigue of daily life and healing my body and mind.
Among the cosmos flower fields, there was a wooden boat, a replica of the famous Raphael vessel that Father Kim Dae-geon rode, created to commemorate the 200th anniversary of his birth.
The Daejeon Diocese of the Catholic Church, Chungcheongnam-do, and Nonsan City promoted the Raphael vessel reproduction project to commemorate Father Kim Dae-geon's love for the people. The Raphael vessel, completed after about eight months of production, was meticulously crafted to recreate the atmosphere of the time.
The Raphael vessel, with its sails powerfully unfurled at the point where the Geumgang River flows, was re-established at Ganggyeong Port, allowing many tourists to view it.

On October 12, 1845, the Raphael vessel carrying Father Kim Dae-geon and his party arrived at Ganggyeong Port, one of the three major ports of Joseon.
According to records at the time, the Raphael vessel set sail from China carrying priestly items, but encountered a major storm and heavy rain, and was shipwrecked, nearly killing everyone on board.
However, thanks to Father Kim Dae-geon's words and faith, which never lost hope and courage, they arrived safely at the Ganggyeong Estuary.
Due to the major storm at the time, the Raphael vessel went down to Jeju Island and then came back up, going against the Geumgang River to land at Ganggyeong Port.
When the Raphael vessel encountered the storm, they even threw food into the sea and starved for three days, facing the fear of death, but miraculously, everyone returned safely.
The colors of the cosmos flowers near the Raphael vessel, such as light pink, dark pink, and white, were very diverse and pretty. Some people were taking commemorative photos in the cosmos flower fields.
In addition to cosmos flowers, there was also pink muhly grass, which is essential in the fall.
Although the picture came out dark, it was a bright pink color like the picture below when viewed up close. It was so pretty.
The sight of cosmos flowers and pink muhly grass blooming together was so beautiful and healing.

Also, in the opposite direction, there were vast fields, giving a refreshing feeling to the heart.
If you are planning a trip to Nonsan, Chungnam, I confidently recommend visiting Ganggyeong Port. I also recommend going up to the Salt Literature Museum and Oknyeo Peak.
I hope you will heal while walking through the autumn of Ganggyeong Port, with its cosmos flowers, pink muhly grass, the Raphael vessel, and the vast fields.
