I recently visited Yeonam Geological Ecology Park, located in Jeungpyeong-gun.
Yeonam Geological Ecology Park is situated on the way to Belfore Resort.
This ecological park, composed of a reservoir and natural surroundings, boasts excellent scenery, especially its beautiful waterfront promenade.
Address: 827-1 Noam-ri, Doan-myeon, Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungbuk
No admission or parking fees.
Yeonam Geological Ecology Park holds significant geological value, as it features Precambrian gneiss formed billions of years ago around the reservoir, as well as igneous rocks from the Mesozoic era (approximately 100 million years ago) and sedimentary rocks from the Cretaceous period.
The waterfront path is constructed with a deck road, and there's also a road for vehicles above the deck road.
Besides the waterfront deck road, the park includes a rock garden, an ecological experience area, foot-washing stations, a forest picnic area, a suspension bridge, rest areas, and observation decks.
The deck road is about 2km long, and the walking path is very beautiful.
Especially in autumn, the fallen leaves and chestnut burrs on the deck road add to the charm.
The reservoir scenery seen while walking along the deck road is like a painting.
Acorns and chestnuts are scattered on the deck road.
The Yeonam Reservoir area is home to seven plant communities, including stands of Mongolian oak and sawtooth oak.
Benches are available along the deck road.
Sitting here and leisurely gazing at the Yeonam Reservoir is highly recommended.
Walking along the deck road, you'll find a rock garden.
The rock garden displays quartzite, gneiss, amphibolite, leucogranite, basalt, diorite, and more.
Each rock has a detailed explanation and can be viewed in person, making it a great place to visit with children.
In the ecological experience area, sawtooth oak trees even dropped acorns.
I also picked up a neat little chestnut.
If you go up from the ecological experience area, you'll find a rest area shaded by lush green trees and foot-washing stations where you can soak your feet in the flowing water.
It would be very refreshing in the summer.
Walking along the deck road again, you'll come across a forest picnic area.
Various rocks that we saw in science class are also displayed in the forest picnic area.
This is the suspension bridge in Yeonam Geological Ecology Park.
The suspension bridge, completed in 2017, is 84m long.
It didn't sway as much as I expected, so it was easy to cross.
The scenery from the suspension bridge was also very impressive.
The harmony of the reservoir, mountains, and sky was like a painting.
Yeonam Geological Ecology Park is a great place to take a quiet walk along the waterfront deck road.
You can also see many rocks and find fruits like acorns and chestnuts, making it a park where time flies by.
Everywhere you look, the scenery is healing, and it's a place where even your heart becomes peaceful.
If you go to Jeungpyeong, be sure to visit at least once.
