Hello!
Today, I'd like to introduce the Ancient Printing Museum and share my experience at the Allpick Market, which took place at the World Calligraphy Street in the Cheongju Arts Center.
Ancient Printing Museum
The Ancient Printing Museum in Cheongju is a special place where you can experience the history and culture of printing. It houses exhibits related to various printing technologies from the Joseon Dynasty to modern times. In particular, there are many exhibits that show the historical importance of woodblock printing and metal type printing, allowing you to see the development of printing at a glance.
The exterior of the museum features a modern design, and a cute character sculpture welcomes visitors at the entrance.
Exploring the Ancient Printing Museum
Upon entering, you are greeted by various exhibits. What was particularly impressive was the large book-shaped exhibit, which symbolically represents the development of printing technology. Among the exhibits, the book 'Bulseol Daebo Bumo Eunjoonggyeong' (The Sutra of Great Parental Grace) stood out. This book focuses on the theme of parental love and records ten precepts to be observed to repay parental grace, along with illustrations.
In addition, I was able to see various woodblock prints and learn more about metal type, which was very informative.
Space for Children
There is also a play area for children, making it a suitable place for families. In the 'Cheongju Ancient Printing Museum Little Excavation' corner, you can learn about the excavation process and experience it yourself. You can participate in the experience wearing special clothes worn at the excavation site, such as vests, hats, and boots, allowing you to experience the excavation site much more realistically.
Once Upon a Time
A special exhibition is underway on the second floor of the Modern and Contemporary Exhibition Hall, where you can enjoy old fairy tales and legends. There are many experiential spaces and it is decorated in a charming way, so I think children will really like it.
Introduction to Allpick Market
After visiting the Ancient Printing Museum, I headed to the Allpick Market held at the World Calligraphy Street in the Cheongju Arts Center. This market is an event where local artists and merchants gather to sell various products, and it was held for two days on November 8 (Saturday) and 9 (Sunday).
Exploring Allpick Market
The atmosphere of the market was lively, and there were many families, so I had a great time. As soon as I arrived at the market, I noticed various booths. In particular, I spent a lot of time at the booths full of traditional Korean snacks and handicrafts.
Also, they were selling sleeping pajamas suitable for winter, and it was fun to look around the booths displaying pretty accessories. I bought dried seafood with my mom while looking around the market, and it was even better because I could try it myself.
Enjoy Delicious Food
You can't miss the delicious food at the market! If you go inside, there are food trucks. There are many delicious foods that make your mouth water just by imagining them, such as tteokbokki, waffles, and bul-sushi, so you can choose according to your taste, right?
Today, I left a review of my visit to the Ancient Printing Museum and Allpick Market. I was able to learn about the history and culture of printing and have a precious time looking around various booths. If you visit Cheongju, I highly recommend you visit!
