Hello everyone! It's quite chilly outside, so please take care not to catch a cold.

Last weekend, we visited Solnaeum, a famous restaurant known for its grilled beef patties, located in Buyeo.

We had visited this place about two months ago and found it so delicious that we decided to return on this trip to Buyeo.

The restaurant operates from 11:10 AM to 2:00 PM for lunch, with a break from 2:00 PM to 5:10 PM, and dinner from 5:10 PM to 8:00 PM (last order at 7:00 PM).

**Please note that the restaurant is closed every Tuesday, so plan your visit accordingly.

Last time, we arrived around 11:30 AM, but the place was already full. This time, we arrived right at 11:10 AM and were lucky enough to avoid a wait.

There is ample parking available right in front of the restaurant.

Solnaeum has been recognized as an excellent establishment for the 'Buyeo 10 Delicacies.' These delicacies include lotus leaf rice, stone-wrapped rice, mushroom hot pot, grilled Korean beef, spicy crab soup, mushroom kimbap, wild vegetable bibimbap, grilled eel, raw fish, and lotus flower bread.

To ensure objectivity and fairness in selecting these delicacies, the Buyeo County conducted a preliminary random survey (with over 1,000 participants) and a follow-up individual interview survey (with 500 participants), focusing on historical significance, popularity, ease of consumption, price appropriateness, and health contributions.

This objective evaluation guarantees that the selected places are indeed worth visiting.

The photos above are from the second floor. Last time, we were seated in a hidden area on the first floor due to the crowd, but today we were guided to a table with a beautiful view on the second floor.

It was nice to see a diverse age group among the customers, from children to seniors, with various groups of friends, couples, and families enjoying their meals together.

We were seated at a lovely spot, and if you look out the window, you might spot a dog! It looked like a Jindo, and it was so adorable wagging its tail throughout our meal that we took a moment after eating to visit it.

The name 'Solnaeum' means that the restaurant aims to provide guests with a subtle scent of pine, allowing them to reminisce about the memories of Sabiseong while savoring the flavors of Buyeo.

Having opened on September 11, 2001, the restaurant has been around for 25 years, which is a testament to the owner's dedication.

The staff also mentioned that they are always open to feedback from customers to improve their service.

We opted for the 'Yeonjeong' set, which includes one pork patty and one beef patty, as we both enjoy trying different dishes.

Before the food arrives, they serve warm water, which was perfect for warming our hands in the chilly weather.

It’s essential to eat the grilled patties with the accompanying green onion salad. The sign says, "Without green onion salad, the grilled patties are incomplete," and I completely agree. Initially, I wondered how much of a difference it would make, but eating them together was a game-changer.

We didn’t have to wait long for the seasonal side dishes to arrive, and the staff skillfully brought them out on a large tray.

Each side dish was beautifully presented, and while I can’t say for sure, I think they included kimchi, mung beans, and potato pancakes. They were a bit bland on their own, but paired with the green onion salad, they were just right.

One of the best side dishes was the fried lotus root and mushrooms. The lotus root was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the mushrooms were crispy outside and juicy inside, making for a delightful texture.

The soybean paste stew was also delicious, with a light flavor and a hint of spiciness, making it perfect for mixing with rice.

There were many other side dishes as well, all of which were tasty.

The main dish, the grilled patties, was served next. The beef patty had a sprinkle of perilla seeds on top, while the pork patty was served plain, hiding shiitake mushrooms underneath.

It’s recommended to take a bite of the grilled patty along with the sweet lotus root for a delightful combination. They look smaller in the photo than they are in reality; they are quite thick and juicy.

This is the lotus leaf rice. When I first visited, I thought the leaf was meant to be eaten, but it’s actually used to infuse the rice with flavor.

After finishing our meal, we could enjoy a coffee. We learned that by reviewing our receipt, we could get a free Americano at the nearby café, so we skipped the coffee machine.

Next to Solnaeum is a café called Yulga. You can show your receipt and add it to your favorites on Naver Maps to get your free coffee.

I found the 'Yul Jam' appealing and decided to buy some. The instructions mentioned it can be stored in the fridge for a month and can be spread on bread or mixed with milk to make a chestnut latte.

With its delicious food, thoughtful service, and meaningful concept, I highly recommend visiting Solnaeum!
