A Unique Autumn Festival: The Gyeryong Military Culture Festival

I visited the Gyeryong Military Culture Festival, a unique festival held in the fall!
The festival was full of fun with various experiences and performances together with the Army.
Actually, I had no plans to go, but I couldn't resist my daughter's urging. But once I arrived and looked around, I enjoyed it even more.
It was a time full of things to see, enjoy, and eat! I took photos with the mascots roaming the festival grounds and received lots of gifts while visiting various experience booths. It was a place where you could have a great time just by sharing joyful moments with many people.
Gyeryong Military Culture Festival
Location: Gyeryongdae Airfield and surrounding area
Date: Sept. 17, 2025 ~ Sept. 21, 2025
The Military Culture Festival, Gyeryong's representative festival held every September, was full of various performances and shows by the Army, as well as various military-related experiences. I visited on the 18th, and the festival grounds were full of excitement.
Parking Information
The size of the parking lot alone was enough to gauge the scale of the festival. First of all, Parking Lot 1 was closest to the entrance of the venue, so many people parked here. I also parked here at first, but it was far from the performance hall, so I moved to Parking Lot 2. Parking Lots 1 and 2 are located in opposite directions. The parking lot closest to the venue is Parking Lot 1.
This is where Parking Lots 2 and 3 are located. Parking Lot 2 was the farthest in terms of distance. However, it was close to the performance hall, so I parked here. Parking Lot 3 was located right in front of the performance hall, but it was reserved for the elderly and disabled, so verification was required.
Army Performance
The first place I went to after arriving was the performance presented by the Army. My daughter said that I had to see the performance hosted by SF9's Sanghyuk, so the first thing I did was watch the performance. Despite the light rain, many fans were there. I watched the performance from inside the tent at the end.
Until then, most of the main visitors were fans, but as the rain stopped and the weather cleared up, more and more people came to the festival. It was a great time just watching the wonderful performance.
Exploring the Festival Grounds
It was so large that it was difficult to get around without a map of the venue. It's so big that you can't see everything unless you get a guide at the entrance. And what's unique is that there was a shuttle bus running around the complex. The shuttle bus is free, so it's best to take the shuttle bus one block at a time.
In the middle, there is a photo zone with cute mascots. So many people were taking pictures here.
The coverage was also great. Of course, many fans came, but there were also many people who visited to film this festival.
There were also many booths from the region. It is full of food and snacks made from local specialties. The prices were not too expensive, which was good. These days, there are many complaints about overpricing, so it seems that frowning at excessive prices at each event is not as common as in the past.
Food Booths
The Local Food Hall, a large tent, is the beginning of the food zone. In addition, there were many food booths directly from the region.
After the performance, I went to the food zone and had a simple snack. I walked around and chose the food that suited my taste and sat down at a table.
I bought red bean porridge, glutinous rice cakes, and kimchi noodles and shared them.
Experience Booth Tour
There are also various experience booths. There were many gifts that you could receive each time you completed an experience. In addition, there was a separate experience zone for children, so many children enjoyed the experiences with their parents.
There were many things that you could actually wear, touch, and do, not just look around and watch. The children's laughter filled the air as they flew on balloons.
The more I looked around, the more I thought it was amazing how much effort they put into preparing for the event. It was the grandest and most splendid place I've been to recently.
I couldn't just pass by the little friends in military uniforms, they were so cute. Everyone applauded as they marched to the commands.
I take the shuttle bus to the next course. It was fun to see friends from school going around all the experience booths. The gifts they received were overflowing in their bags.
This is another experience space. It was a place where you could take pictures with military equipment. This place was also very popular. You could ride on it and take pictures with the soldiers. So I took on the challenge. I climbed on a cool tank and took a picture with a soldier.
If you take your time and look around, a day will feel short. Each booth was operated with a slightly different concept, so visitors didn't have time to get bored.
I also completed a few experience tasks and received gifts. I received many gifts, including a nice bag, key ring, pen, notepad, badge, handkerchief, and umbrella.
In the afternoon, as the weather cleared up, people began to flock to the outdoor booths. It was fun just to watch, even if I didn't participate directly.
A helicopter performance is unfolding in the sky. Everyone looked up at the sky and enjoyed the wonderful performance of the helicopter. The breathtaking aerobatics and various flights across the venue were spectacular.
This is the last shuttle bus boarding point. You can get off one block at a time and return, but you can also take all three courses. Some older people were taking a full lap on the shuttle bus.
I hope you will experience the time with our proud soldiers, which is a different atmosphere from other festivals. This year's festival is over, but I look forward to next year's festival with even better performances.
