Goesan Sports Town

On the first weekend of November, the soccer field in Seobu-ri, Goesan-eup, across the Dongjincheon Stream, was filled with the passionate energy and cheering of promising elementary school soccer players. The 15th Kifa Cup Natural Sound Goesan National Youth Soccer Festival was held at the newly constructed Goesan Sports Town. Let me introduce the newly built Goesan Sports Town along with the enthusiastic atmosphere of the event.

The road to Goesan Sports Town follows the long Dongjincheon Stream. The waterway originating from Okcheon-ri, Soso-myeon, Goesan-gun, flows through Dongbu-ri and Seobu-ri in Goesan-eup and joins the Seonghwangcheon Stream. The autumn foliage was beautifully colored beyond the coolly unfolding river, and air balloons floated along with the lighting towers.

Goesan-gun already has the existing Goesan Sports Complex and Goesan National Sports Center, and the Goesan Bandabi Sports Center opened in July, followed by the completion of Goesan Sports Town in November. It is truly emerging as a sports city.

Goesan Sports Town is a 5-minute drive from downtown Goesan, making it easily accessible, and it is separated from residential areas, making it ideal for games and training. Below the sports town, you can see Goesan's specialty cabbage fields and Dongjincheon Stream.

Goesan Sports Town has a three-story structure with stone walls built on a hillside, consisting of two soccer fields, nine tennis courts, spectator seats, night lighting facilities, and a parking lot with 180 spaces. The first soccer field is located in the center, with the second soccer field below and nine tennis courts above. Parking lots are provided adjacent to each stadium, and there is also a large parking lot at the top, making it easy to host large games. The three-story sports town is well-equipped with amenities such as elevators and restrooms for comfortable movement.

The large site has plenty of space apart from the stadiums. Despite the large number of people who visited the Kifa Cup National Youth Soccer Festival held from November 7th to 9th to commemorate the completion, it did not feel crowded at all. It seems sufficient not only for the sports activities of nearby residents but also for hosting national-scale competitions.

The first soccer field in the center is equipped with spectator seats with screens and night lighting facilities. It is a wide structure where spectators can sit between the stepped passages. The National Youth Soccer Festival, which was held for three days from November 7th to 9th, involved 70 teams from across the country, with games divided into elementary school lower grades and upper grades.

The international-standard soccer field is divided into two soccer fields for games. On the last day of the festival, games are held at different times on the soccer field, and parents gather in groups of three or five on the benches and on the outskirts to cheer. The newly completed soccer field has artificial turf that spreads out coolly, and the white lines are clear. There is a shade fence along the soccer field, so both the people playing and the people watching can feel at ease.

Inside the stadium, there are also dugouts for visiting and home teams. There are 4 to 5 facilities bordering the drainage outlet. When regular games are held, it is the strategy room for the home and away teams.

The soccer field with Mt. Bugeongdimi in the background is even more beautiful with the surrounding autumn foliage. The soccer field facilities consist of two soccer fields in total, with the second soccer field directly adjacent to the first soccer field with spectator seats. The only difference is that there are no spectator seats, but the size is the same.

Air balloons flutter above the dugouts, lighting towers, soccer fields, and autumn sky, announcing the holding of the competition and the completion of the sports town.

Like the first soccer field, the international-standard area is divided into two soccer fields for games. Throughout the time I watched, the players playing directly were full of passion, the coaches and referees were serious, and the cheering and exclamations of the mothers and fathers watching were mixed.

Goesan Sports Town has lighting towers for night games and training in the sky above the two soccer fields. Following the two soccer fields at the bottom, there are tennis courts at the top. It is divided into two zones, with 4 courts and 5 courts respectively, for a total of 9 courts. Again, it was convenient with parking lots, elevators, restrooms, and other amenities.

There are a total of 4 tennis courts in the front. It consists of a soft-touch flooring material, a tennis net, and a referee's seat for conducting the game. On the day of the visit, one team was playing. Unlike the soccer field, which was open on all sides, the tennis court had blue tarps installed up to eye level. It is a structure that can increase concentration during games or training.

The second tennis court facing each other has the same structure. The newly built stadium is pleasant and open.

It is expected that Goesan will become a sports-centered city through the attraction of sports competitions as well as a sports facility for the residents.
