A short hike turned into one of the best fall views in Muju

SNS Supporter 'Bomppa's Hyorosan Mountain Healing Course
Autumn is slowly fading, and winter is just around the corner! Since the peak foliage season is from this week to next week, don't miss out on enjoying the last scenery of this season.
Muju is home to many majestic mountains such as Deogyusan, Jeoksangsan, and Minjujisan. However, these mountains require considerable physical strength and time to hike, making them less suitable for a light trip. So, today, I'd like to introduce Hyorosan Mountain (Hyorobong Peak) in Muju, a place very close to Muju-eup where you can enjoy wonderful scenery in a short amount of time!
Hyorosan Mountain (Hyorobong Peak) Basic Information
Location: San 9-1, Eumnae-ri, Muju-eup, Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do
Elevation: Approximately 420m
Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆ (Suitable for all ages)
The summit of Hyorosan Mountain is called 'Hyorobong Peak,' and it's about 420m high, making it easy to climb. I went up the Surijae Tunnel route today! It's less than 1km from the Muju County Office, so you can drive there, but I personally recommend walking slowly and fully enjoying the air of Muju, the Special City of Nature.
When you arrive at the Surijae Tunnel intersection, you'll see the entrance to the deck road hiking trail on the right, and you can reach the summit of Hyorobong Peak by following the sign for about 1km. It's a course that adults can easily complete in about an hour round trip.
Hyorosan Mountain Course and Scenery
The beginning of the trail is full of fallen leaves, chestnuts, and acorns, allowing you to fully feel the atmosphere of an autumn walk. About 1/3 of the way up, you'll find a small pavilion and a signpost, which is the easiest section.
Out of the 5 courses, I went up course 1 and descended via courses 5→4. Please note that the course difficulty increases near Bokgosa Temple!
Although the slope is a bit steep, the dirt path and wooden stairs are well maintained, making it easy for beginners to navigate.
The Scenery of Muju from the Summit
The octagonal pavilion at the summit was currently closed, but you could still enjoy the wonderful scenery from below. Muju-eup was visible in the front, and 'Apseom' village was visible in the back. The village is located between streams, making it look like an island!
That's why it's called 'Apseom.' I went up early in the morning on an empty stomach and ate the boiled eggs and tangerines I had brought with me. The taste of eating after a hike and cooling off was truly delicious.
Enjoy Hyorosan Mountain Like This!
Muju Hyorosan Mountain is adjacent to the Muju Hyorosan Natural Recreation Forest, making it a great course to enjoy with walks, camping, and family outings. It is highly recommended not only for those who live in Muju but also for those who are looking for a mountain to climb lightly during their trip to Muju!
A short but fulfilling hike, and the beautiful scenery of Muju from the summit - isn't this the real place to visit in Muju?
