A Review of the 2025 Fall Nighttime Opening at Gyeongbokgung Palace

The Gyeongbokgung Palace Night Opening is an event I always look forward to in the fall. The dates for the fall of 2025 have finally been announced, and I've compiled this review based on my experience. The autumn nights in Seoul are made even more special by the serene beauty of Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Dates: September 3rd (Wednesday) ~ September 28th (Sunday), 2025
Closed: Every Monday and Tuesday
Hours: 7:00 PM ~ 9:30 PM (Last admission at 8:30 PM)
At night, the buildings revealed under the soft lighting showcase a completely different charm from the daytime. In particular, Geunjeongjeon Hall and Gyeonghoeru Pavilion are famous photo spots.

The following areas were open to the public during this nighttime opening:
Gwanghwamun Gate, Heungnyemun Gate, Geunjeongjeon Hall
Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, Sajeongjeon Hall, Gangnyeongjeon Hall
Gyotaejeon Hall, Amisan Garden area
A must-see is the reflection of Gyeonghoeru Pavilion! The pavilion reflected on the water, combined with the autumn night sky, was truly magnificent.

Many people visited wearing Hanbok this time, adding to the traditional atmosphere. It made for great photos!
???? Special Program – Royal Guard Parade (King’s walk)
The 'Royal Guard Parade (King’s walk)' performance takes place at 7 PM from Friday to Sunday.
It's a performance that recreates the royal procession of the Joseon Dynasty. Watching it felt like traveling back in time. The traditional music and the grandeur of the procession perfectly complemented the atmosphere of Gyeongbokgung Palace.
???? Transportation & Tips
The parking lot inside Gyeongbokgung Palace is congested, so I highly recommend using public transportation. It's about a 5-minute walk from Gyeongbokgung Station (Subway Line 3), making it easily accessible.
