A Peaceful Retreat: Yonglangsa Temple in Dangjin

In the heart of Dangjin lies Yonglangsa, a serene temple where complex thoughts settle.
Dangjin City is home to many historical sites, but today, I visited a place that offers peace rather than just history.
Yonglangsa Temple, located at 145-52 Jin-gwan-ro, Godeam-myeon, is nestled in the embrace of Yeongpasan Mountain. Its location on flat land makes it easily accessible for visitors.
Behind the temple, you'll find the Samsun Mountain Arboretum, adding to the tranquil atmosphere.
While the exact founding date of Yonglangsa is uncertain, the most credible legend ties it to Princess Yonglang, the daughter of the Tang Dynasty's Emperor Taizong. It is said that she visited Dangjin Port to find a site for a temple, which led to the establishment of Yonglangsa in her name.
The temple offers a spacious parking area for visitors, making it convenient to explore the grounds. After parking, I was greeted by the expansive temple site, which was a sight to behold.
Yonglangsa features the Daeungjeon Hall, a cultural heritage site of Chungcheongnam-do, and a bronze bell made in 1759. The hall's unique architectural style combines traditional elements with modern touches.
After exploring the temple grounds, I also checked out the offices located beside the Daeungjeon Hall. There, I found information about the temple's 'Temple Stay' program, which aims to blend tradition with modern relaxation.
For those interested in this program, it's recommended to contact Yonglangsa directly for inquiries and applications.
Today, I introduced you to Yonglangsa, a historical temple in Dangjin that is perfect for a peaceful visit. If you're interested in the temple or the Temple Stay program, I highly recommend a visit.
For anyone looking to cultivate their mind in a quiet temple, spring is a wonderful time to visit.
