A Peaceful Retreat: Discovering Ipam Reservoir in Gyeryong

During my trip to Gyeryong, I found a place where I spent some truly peaceful time, and I wanted to share it with you.

I recommend Ipam Reservoir in Gyeryong as a quiet and peaceful getaway near Daejeon!

The scenery from the reservoir's deck path, surrounded by lush greenery, was the epitome of tranquility. It wasn't crowded, which made it even more enjoyable to explore.

Gyeryong Ipam Reservoir

Due to the continuous rain, the water in the reservoir was muddy. It seemed like the nearby construction was causing the muddy water to flow in. That was a bit disappointing, but I still enjoyed the serenity and the comforting scenery.

Following the navigation, I entered a narrow road. At first, I wondered if I was on the right path, but then I saw the reservoir scenery beside the road. There was parking space at the entrance, but it wasn't plentiful. I later realized I should have parked near the restaurants and cafes, but I drove further in. After parking briefly, I went for a walk around the reservoir.

A little further up the narrow road, there's a rest area. The rest area has a pavilion, providing a place to relax.

A deck path is available to walk around the reservoir. At the entrance, I saw benches and exercise equipment, seemingly a resting place for the villagers. It was drizzling, so I didn't see anyone exercising.

On the way to the deck path, there's a gate, and next to it, a pavilion and a red heart sculpture. The rain gave it a somewhat atmospheric feel. Before heading to the deck path, I looked around the pavilion and the heart-shaped photo zone.

Is this how you're supposed to take a photo? Making a heart shape below the heart sculpture! I tried it because no one was around. I found it amusing to set up my selfie stick and take pictures of myself like that, so I chuckled to myself.

Entering the deck path, the water of the reservoir right next to me made me feel like I was walking on water. Perhaps because of the rain or the good maintenance, the deck path was very clean. I started walking along the deck path, listening to the sound of the water flowing from the nearby valley.

Following the sound of the water, I found an artificial waterfall. It was small, but the sound of the water flowing down the waterfall was very pleasant. The sounds of nature are always healing. I enjoyed some alone time listening to the water.

I loved the coolness of autumn. The trees, leaves, and birdsong I discovered while walking felt quite romantic. I stopped for a moment to look at the trees. Perhaps it was because they were next to the water, but their deep green color was very beautiful.

Walking along the deck path, there's a space that seems to be another photo zone. Turning to the other side, I could see the red heart sculpture near the entrance. The view from the other side was different.

Leaving home early in the morning allowed me this leisure. I enjoyed the relaxed morning walk. With plenty of time before the performance, I left my daughter at the venue and came alone, and I enjoyed the solitude.

The sight of the reservoir filled with muddy water was also unique. From the photos of others, I knew it was a place with a beautiful blue lake, but although I didn't see the blue reservoir today, I was able to appreciate its peaceful and quiet appearance.

I was a little taken aback by the narrow road leading to Ipam Reservoir, but I think it was worth it to see such a beautiful place.

Watching the scenery change into autumn colors day by day is also a way to enjoy this season, isn't it? Every day, Korea's autumn becomes more colorful! That's why there are more places to go, and I feel even more rushed.
