Bright Future

Poems about Dangjin met Dangjin citizens through recitation. The 15th Dangjin Poetry Recitation Night was held at the small theater of the Dangjin Arts and Culture Hall on November 29th, where attendees immersed themselves in a space filled with flowing verses.

Poetry lovers and enthusiasts of culture and art gathered in one place. Before the official poetry recitation, an ocarina performance set the atmosphere.

The first performance was a recitation of 'Ode to Waemok Village.' The reciters expressed the poignant love of Gyeon-woo and Jik-nyeo through their performance, hoping that the love and happiness of many people would last forever, like the Imaginary Bridge Ojakgyo at the entrance of Waemok Village.

Following this were recitations about Samseon Arboretum, Amisan Mountain, Dangjin Five-Day Market, Myeoncheon Eupseong Fortress, Solmoe Holy Ground, Sapgyo Stream, and the Dreamy West Sea Bridge. This Poetry Recitation Night presented a moving experience by reciting poems written by Dangjin poets on the theme of Dangjin.

During the poetry recitations, scenes of Dangjin, the backdrop of the poems, were shown, allowing the audience to experience the beautiful scenery of Dangjin along with the poems.

In addition, various genres of music, including opera, violin, vocal music, and Korean traditional music, were interspersed between the poetry recitations, providing a continuous array of entertainment.

The final stage featured Korean dance, followed by a recitation of 'New Dangjin Rises' by Yoo Jeong-soon, president of the Dangjin branch of the Korean Poetry Recitation Association. 'New Dangjin Rises,' a poem by Lee Geun-bae, captures the development and growth of the Dangjin area, as well as the restoration of local identity.

President Yoo Jeong-soon said, "We started the Poetry Recitation Night in 2009 and have continued it to this day. I want to give you a happy day as a gift through poetry recitations by members who recite poems written by poets representing Dangjin on the theme of the Eight Scenic Wonders of Dangjin."

It was a night of Dangjin poetry recitation where we encountered the Eight Scenic Wonders of Dangjin through the warm language of poetry, where nature, people, and art met.
