A Dreamy Escape to Ganghwa Island: Nanjeong-ri Sunflower Garden
736-1 Nanjeong-ri, Gyodong-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon

A trip to Ganghwa Island, famous for its stunning fields of yellow sunflowers! Let me introduce you to the dreamy time I spent in this beautiful sunflower garden.
The Nanjeong-ri Sunflower Garden was much larger than I expected, and the scenery was particularly breathtaking. The mountains and sea visible beyond the flower fields created a picture-perfect view.
Ganghwa Gyodongdo Nanjeong-ri Sunflower Garden Festival
Festival Period: August 23, 2025 ~ September 14, 2025
Admission Fee: 5,000 won (Adults)
Special Features: Food Zone, Traditional Games, Photo Zone
The Nanjeong-ri Sunflower Garden Festival, which runs until September 14th, started on August 23rd and has been a popular destination in Ganghwa. Now, the sunflower blossoms have grown quite large and are starting to droop.
It must have been spectacular when the sunflowers were in full bloom, creating a sea of yellow. It's a little disappointing now, but it really highlights the importance of timing your visit well.
Parking Information
There is a parking lot as you enter the festival grounds. The entrance and exit are separate, so there were no traffic issues. Parking attendants are available to assist with parking.
Garden Scenery
The scenery unfolding before my eyes was amazing! Yellow sunflowers peeked through the green foliage, with a red windmill as a central focal point. The panoramic view of the island and sea was incredibly beautiful.
A sign indicated that this place was created to cultivate yellow hope filled with peace. The well-organized layout allowed visitors to enter the flower fields and take photos, which was a plus.
Photos at the Photo Zone
I captured the sight of the sunflowers with their heads bowed. They were as tall as me, making it feel like I was hanging out with friends! I had originally planned to come at the end of August, but my eldest daughter was hospitalized, so I couldn't make it. I was worried I wouldn't be able to see them this year, so I'm so glad I was able to come after all.
It felt touching and appreciated to see them blooming with all their might until the very end. If you look closely, you can still find some beautiful ones. This might be the last week to see them until next year.
Many people were using parasols to shield themselves from the hot sun. It seems like a good idea to have a brightly colored parasol for times like these.
Rest areas are provided throughout the garden, perfect for taking a break when you get tired of walking. There were also benches near the photo zone, making it easy to explore. I sat on a bench and took a commemorative photo to remember the day.
I also snapped some photos at the photo zone! A line quickly formed after I took my pictures. Some people asked me to take their photos, so I happily obliged. They were pleased with the photos I took for them and thanked me with some green grape candies, which gave me a boost of energy.
On the way to the food stalls, I noticed even more cars had arrived. There's a parking lot at the entrance, but there's also one inside, so keep that in mind.
Food Stalls
The food stalls are located on the opposite side of the garden. The restrooms are also located here. They were portable restrooms, but they were well-maintained and clean.
They were selling buckwheat snacks. There was a tasting corner, so I was able to try some. They were surprisingly savory and nutty, making them a great snack.
Tables were set up in the center for eating. They were shaded by canopies, providing relief from the sun.
There was also a coffee truck. After walking around, it was nice to sit down and enjoy a refreshing cup of coffee. They claimed to use only high-quality beans, and the coffee was surprisingly good.
Review
I was a little disappointed that I couldn't see the sunflowers in full bloom since I visited near the end of the festival, but I really enjoyed the open view and the sea of yellow. The photo zones throughout the garden were great for taking pictures, and the leisurely stroll was enough to heal my tired body and mind.
However, I blamed myself for not timing my visit better, as I couldn't capture the beauty of the sunflowers in full bloom. I vowed to come back during the festival next year.
Everything is about timing!
Just like flowers have their peak season, life is all about timing. I hope you have a moment to reflect on whether there are any opportunities you might be missing.
