A Day Trip to Taebaek: Gumooso and Mont Blanc Goat Ranch

Hello, I'm Baekma, a travel influencer!
When the early winter wind starts to creep in,
I often long for high mountains and deep valleys.
Taebaek is the place that comes to mind at times like these.
I always thought of it as an overnight trip destination because it's far away,
but I discovered a day trip course to Taebaek where you can feel the nature of Taebaek up close
and enjoy it in a fulfilling way, so I went there.
The travel distance between the spots is short, and the atmosphere is completely different,
making it a combination I especially want to recommend on days when you want a short healing break!
That's Gumooso and Mont Blanc Goat Ranch.
I'll tell you more about my visit!

I visited Gumooso, a place in Taebaek that I had never been to before.
Gumooso in Taebaek is where Hwangjicheon Stream and Cheoram Zone meet,
and it's a place where traces of nature remain intact.
The name comes from the Chinese characters for 'Gumooso,' which means that the river passes through the mountain, creating a large stone gate, and a pool of water forms below it,
but the actual scenery was much more realistic than the description.
When you get off at the parking lot, you can see the information map right away, making it easy to figure out the route,
and the mother-of-pearl gate and Madangso Pond in front of you are much more magnificent than in the pictures.
You can see the strata exposed in various places,
so it was fun to look around as if I were studying geology.
The stagnant water was so deep and still that it was close to emerald in color,
and I could feel that the depth was considerable just by standing there.
From the artificial cave to the rapids, Tungso, and Yongso that continue to the back,
new scenery continued as I moved my steps.
Near the entrance of the cave, there is a monument marking Gumooso,
and the combination of the valley and the cliff looking down from that point
leaves a much deeper impression than the pictures.
Behind Gumooso in Taebaek, there are also the Three Brothers Falls and Yongcheon Spring,
and the sound of the small waterfall flowing along the stream fills the area,
and I felt like my head was cleared as I walked to the sound of the water.

After looking around Gumooso
and filling up with Korean beef in downtown Taebaek,
I felt like taking a break
and headed to Mont Blanc Goat Ranch along National Route 38.
When you arrive at the parking lot, you will see the cafe building near the entrance first,
followed by another cafe at the top of the ranch behind it.
Thanks to the scenery that unfolds beyond the large windows inside the Mont Blanc View Cafe,
it's a popular spot that many people visit,
and when I actually went inside, it was beyond words.
You can buy tickets to Mont Blanc Goat Ranch right at the cafe,
and the admission fee is 5,000 won, so it's not a burden and the route is not complicated.
The young goats in the indoor barn
were huddled together in a warm space
and were so cute that I felt good just looking at them.
For your information, you can use the feeding experience with a separate ticket!
Goats grazing freely were roaming around the ranch,
and I could easily see goats everywhere while walking.
They would stand still and subtly look at people
and the way they approached was so cute!
After leisurely walking around the ranch and watching the goats,
I went up to the highest point and found the Mont Blanc New Building.
The colors were a little lighter because it was early winter,
but the mountains stretching out in all directions unfolded like a panorama,
making it a great place to fully experience the open scenery.
Seeing the deep traces of nature in Gumooso,
and enjoying the highland air and ranch scenery at Mont Blanc Goat Ranch,
it was a short time, but it was a day I fully felt Taebaek.
Before winter comes in full swing,
on a day when you want to take a break,
even if you only visit these two places in Taebaek,
you'll be able to feel your head clear.
