Finally, I made my long-dreamed-of day trip to Gangwon-do a reality!

I had hesitated when my daughter was in kindergarten, thinking it might be too physically demanding, but now that she's eight, I figured she could handle it, so I boldly went for it!

We decided to stick to the Yangyang area and chose a beach based on online searches and recommendations from acquaintances.

The candidates were:

Naksan Beach

Hyuhyuam Temple

Surfyy Beach

Namae 3-ri Beach

Sol Beach (Private Beach)

We ultimately decided on Namae 3-ri Beach because it's shallow and known for having lots of fish, making it great for young children.

I made a packing checklist in advance and started preparing the evening before the trip.

Since we were leaving early in the morning, I packed everything into the car the night before and went to bed early.

We woke up at 6 AM the next day and departed at 6:30 AM. But the moment we entered the highway... surprise!

The highway was already packed with cars. Wow.

If it's this crowded leaving from Hanam, what time do people leaving from Seoul have to get up?

Luckily, traffic wasn't as bad as expected, perhaps because it was before the kids' summer vacation.

We arrived in Yangyang at 9 AM.

The trip took about 2 hours and 45 minutes, not too bad!

Namae 3-ri Beach

There was plenty of parking, but it was a bit of a walk to the beach, so we used a cart to carry our luggage.

Namae 3-ri allows tents and sun shelters, so we set up our one-touch tent, mat, and parasol.

As soon as we unloaded, we headed straight for the sea.

The temperature was 27 degrees Celsius, so the water temperature was low, and the water was cold for me.

환상적인 장면

The sea was teeming with small fish.

But those little guys were fast!

No matter how hard we tried to catch them with the net, we couldn't catch a single one.

I wonder if we could have been successful with a lighter, smaller net...?

Ours was too big to swing quickly enough to catch the nimble fish in the water.

In the end, the handle even broke! LOL

Still, the fishing itself was pretty fun.

즐거운 순간

We planned to have pizza for lunch, but we were too hungry to wait until the opening time of 11 AM, so we ate mulhoe (spicy raw fish soup) at a nearby raw fish restaurant.

The sweet and sour mulhoe was delicious!!

In the afternoon, the beach got crowded, and the water became much cloudier than in the morning.

My daughter started riding the waves with her dad.

Even though the water was shallow, the waves were quite strong.

Riding the waves on a tube was fun! LOL

I relaxed on my newly purchased hammock and enjoyed the beach.

값진 경험

Sand play, instant noodles from the convenience store, a cup of coffee, and back to swimming – and it was already 5 PM.

We packed up the tent and luggage and took a warm shower at the paid shower room, which cost 4,000 won per person.

Namae 3-ri Beach has several public and private shower rooms, so you can easily shower even without accommodation.

For dinner, we ate pizza at 'Pizza Jungbiso,' which we couldn't have for lunch, and then took one last walk on the beach before heading home.

감동적인 장면

It was a fulfilling day without the burden of accommodation costs.

It was a little disappointing not to have a glass of beer in the evening, but I can have one comfortably at home.

Above all, the best part was that the road home was wide open!

I was always afraid of Sunday evening highway congestion and the stress of the following day, but there was none of that, so I was very satisfied.

I'll probably be going on day trips more often in the future!!
